Chapter 14

// Niall

"The fuck?" Zayn scorned, snatching the remote controller away from my hands.

"What?" I mouthed, not willing at all to get into a squabble or anything such with him, at the time.

"Didn't know you fancied Susan Boyle, mate." He scoffed, eyes fixed to the television screen. "This is shit! Where are all the decent morning shows?" He complained to himself, flicking through the tv channels, apathetically.

I shrugged, paying little notice to anything around me and sunk back into the leather couch in his living room, my mind inevitably wandering off to the occurrence that I had caused the night before. My head felt heavy and dizzy, last night having been an endless battle between sleep and contemplations, not to mention, Zayn's uncontrollable snoring all throughout the night, had no roles to play in bringing my slumber back.

I was in need of answers as to why I had done what I did. Why was I thinking of Brynn that way after all? She's only a friend, my best friend who I absolutely loved with all my heart, but... she suddenly seems to be so much more than that.

She looked unquestionably beautiful the other night, and may be, to some extent it had influenced me to do what I did, but in no way could it be the reason behind it. It couldn't be the reason why I was still feeling strangely different about her. This unknown feeling, that I had yet to put a finger upon, was coursing through me, only at the mere thoughts of her. I could only wish I knew how to handle these unknown and unfamiliar emotions.

"You look constipated." Zayn spat, paying me a swift glance, as he tore his eyes away from the television screen for a second.

"Glad you noticed." I muttered sarcastically, resting my arms on top of my head.

He stood up from his slouched position on the couch opposite mine, and made his way to the kitchen. The sound of wooden cabinet doors being opened and shut could be heard, and the same being done with the fridge door as he reappeared into the living room.

"Thank God." I sighed, noticing all the food he was carrying in with him.

A large packet of Doritos was chucked at me, before a selection of drink-cans were placed down across the centre-table. Shaking two fingers, as if to decide which can he should grab, Zayn finally decided on the cranberry juice and picked it up.

"Fill me in." He stated, popping the can open and taking a rather long sip from it, as he sunk back into his comfy position on the couch once more.

"What? You know it all. You were there, you saw it.. everyone saw it." I nodded my head feeling somewhat embarrassed due to having done what I did, in public last night. But the embarrassment was quickly masked as I stuffed some crisips into my mouth.

"Yeah, well, tell me how it felt." He smirked, taking another swig at his drink.

"What the hell Zayn?! I'm not joking over here.. I seriously need your help!"

"Okay, sorry," He gulped down the smirk. "Go on." He ordered.

I took in a deep breath. "I just don't understand.. I don't even know what to say to her anymore. She probably hates me now." I ran my fingers through my hair, not caring about having ruffled them.

"Okay so, are you fretting over the fact that she might hate you now, or because you kissed her?"

"Both." I shrugged.

"Well, Niall, what I'm gonna tell you to do is, ask yourself. Why did you do it after all? Was it just a spur of the moment or... you really did wanna do it?"
