 Chapter 1

// Niall

Unusual knots tied themselves inside my stomach, as I stole a quick look into the rear-view mirror of my car and headed out to make my way to the doorstep of the house that faced me. Feeling the need to adjust the flower bouquet that lay in my arm one last time, I did so and pressed against the doorbell. The quick trotting down of footsteps could be heard, the door being swung open almost immediately.

My lips parted so I could greet her, but the sight of my beautiful girlfriend held me speechless. Her brown locks were loosely tied into a bun, the black dress falling perfectly till her knee. Her lips were festooned in a mild smile, hazel eyes to sparkling with a glint of happiness.

I noticed she was wearing the pearl earrings I got her on her birthday earlier that year. Well, I had something to give her today as well. She was looking absolutely breathtaking, and that was not helping me at all; only adding to my nervousness.

"Hey Ni," She smiled, looking into my eyes.

"Hey Cath," I leaned forward to place a peck on her cheek.

"I believe they're for me?" She chuckled, gesturing to the flowers.

"Oh yes, of course!" I nodded immediately, a little embarrassed at my tiny screw up. Those nerves had sure figured how to get to me.

"I'll go put these inside." She said, before rushing back into the house.

"Cath! You gotta be careful! You're pregnant honey!" I yelled after her, concern instantly strucking me at her carelessness.

"Sorry," She timidly bit her lip as she made her way back towards me, an adorable expression on her face, that caused the frown on mine to disappear.

"It's alright, let's go." Her fingers were knotted into mine, before I led her out the house and into the Range Rover, that had been parked outside.

After a while of driving through the narrow London streets, the corner of my eye caught sight of my beautiful girl seated beside me, eyes looking out the car-window, as her hand rested protectively over her currently tiny stomach. A smile laced itself around my lips at the sight, as my left hand placed itself on hers, the other retaining its grip on the steering.

"Ni?" She spoke up, as a short silence followed.

"Hmm," I hummed in response.

"Is everything alright?" Stealing a glance at her, my vision registered an equally concerned and confused face.

"Yeah, why?"

"No.. you're extremely quiet today. So not you," She shrugged her shoulders.

"Everything's fine as long as you're with me," I smiled.

"Yeah, nice save!" She made her eyes roll, completely confident that I was hiding something from her. She knew me way too well.

---

We had dinner at her favourite Italian restaurant. It was near the Thames Bridge and that was where I planned to plop the question to her. Might sound like in the movies, but River Thames was where we first met. I was having my slushie, walking down the bridge, when we accidentally bumped into each other and the next instant, the blue liquid was all over her tee shirt. I still clearly remember the deadly look that she had given me, and how she strode away with her friends, in complete indignition, without even allowing me to apologise. We'd still laugh about that day, everytime t's recalled.
