Chapter 20

// Niall

"Brynn, I'm rea – " I stopped mid-sentence, as my eyes captured the sight of the beautiful girl, laying all curled up on the couch in my living room, the shut eyelids indicated she wasn't aware of her surroundings.

I took a few steps forward, and bent down on my knees, making it easier for my eyes to take in the beauty in front of me. She must've really tired from working all day. The exhaustion was sure getting to her, that she had fallen asleep in the mere 20 minutes that I took to take a shower, get dressed and return back into my living room so we could head out.

I was about to place my hand on her forehead and gently wake her up, when she suddenly decided to utter some rather confusing things that made little sense to me.

"No no no, d-don't," She whispered, still unconscious in sleep.

"Brynn?" I gently placed my hand over her forehead that lay on the couch arm, carressing it softly, as her whispers gradually changed tenor, turning into louder cries. The squirming and the clenching of her fists, spoke for the unpleasant dream that she could possibly be having.

"Let her go!" She yelled, as her eyelids clasped themselves firmly, the frown curved onto her eyebrows only deepening.

As much as I wanted to awaken her and have her liberated from the horrible nightmare that she was having, my mind had other plans playing inside it, inticing me to put them to work. It may be termed as concern, inquisitiveness or even selfishness, but whatever it was, it intrigued me to find out what actually was going on with Brynn. Ever since our relationship went public, due to the paparazzi's sudden act couple of weeks before, Brynn's behaviour had somewhat altered.

Maybe I was thinking more than necessary, maybe not. I know I could be a little overly concerned at times, but something about Brynn's attitude lately, told me everything wasn't as fine and as normal as she liked to suggest it was. The way she suddenly zones out during conversations, without even realising it, that shadow of distress in her face, that look of unease that her eyes show - it all couldn't just mean nothing. There had to be something, something that was troubling her awfully and she was guarded enough to want to keep it all from me. I wasn't letting anything go that easily though. She wants have it the hide and seek way, and so she will. And I shall for sure, seek what she's hiding from me.

"Please, don't!" She yelled even louder, this time, but I still decided on keeping my scrutiny undisrupted. Maybe in her sleep, she'd reveal something that she wouldn't let slip from her mouth, if she was conscious. I had to take advantage.

"Don't what Brynn?" I softly questioned.

"D-don't hit her.." She mumbled.

"Hit who?"

"M-m," Right after that muffled mumble left her lips, her eyes snapped open, as she shot up on the couch, looking exactly as horrified as she was in unconsiousness.
