As Charles stood there with a bouquet of peonies, his nerves and anticipation were through the roof. He had taken a risk by surprising Ellie at her doorstep, unsure of how she would react. Her surprised expression told him that she hadn't been expecting him, but he hoped that her silence wasn't a bad sign."Charles, what are you doing here?" Ellie finally managed to ask, her voice a mixture of shock and confusion. Suddenly very aware of what was happening, she clutched around her fingers around her towel, tightening it.

"I wanted to see you," Charles admitted, his eyes meeting hers.

Ellie's heart softened at his gesture, but she was still grappling with a swirl of emotions. "That's really sweet of you, Charles," she replied, her tone more tender as he handed her the flowers.

"I'm sorry if I caught you off guard," Charles said, his voice gentle. "I just wanted to make a genuine effort to spend some time with you, to show you that I'm serious about this."

Ellie sighed, her initial surprise giving away to a mixture of emotions. She couldn't deny the sincerity in Charles' eyes, and a small part of her was warming up to the idea of spending time with him. But she was still cautious.

"Look, Charles," Ellie began, her voice steady. "I appreciate the flowers and the effort, I really do. But I need more than grand gestures to build trust again. It's not just about pretty flowers and dream cars."

Charles nodded, his expression serious. "Of course, I understand. And I'm not expecting you to forgive me overnight. I know I hurt you, and I want to make things right. I want to take it slow, to get to where we should have gone the first time. This is me trying to make things right."

Ellie studied him for a moment, her guard slowly lowering. She knew that Charles was being sincere, that he truly wanted a chance to prove himself. "Okay," she said, her voice softer. "Want to tell me what your doing here? Expect bringing me my favorite flowers"

Charles smiled, relieved that she was willing to give him a chance. "I kind off thought maybe you could let me in? I have wine, for you at least. Some snacks and I might have prepaid some movie Pierres new girl recommended, that's supposed to be suuuuper romantic."

Ellie raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in her eyes. "So, you're bribing me with a Ferrari just to spend time with you?"

Charles chuckled. "I guess you could say that. But it's also a small gesture of making sure you're comfortable for the long ride up to silverstone."

Ellie's smile grew, and she took a step closer to him. "Well, I appreciate the effort, Charles. And I wouldn't mind spending some time with you tonight, as long as it's low-key and drama-free."

Charles nodded, a genuine smile forming on his lips. "No drama, I promise. Just good company and some casual conversation."

As they entered Ellie's hotel room, Charles couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. He had taken a step forward in regaining Ellie's trust, and he was determined to make the most of this opportunity. They spent the evening chatting about their lives, sharing stories, and enjoying each other's company without any pressure or expectations.

As the night grew late, Charles hesitated before speaking. "I think I'll go now. I've really enjoyed tonight. I hope we can do this again sometime."

Ellie smiled, her heart feeling lighter than it had in a while. "I'd like that, Charles. But it's late, you can stay if you want." She said with a shy smile on her face.

Charles nodded, his eyes reflecting a mix of hope and determination. "I don't want to intrude."

"Don't be shy now, its not like you haven't been in the same bed as me before" Ellie with a playful glint in her eyes.

"I haven't slept with you yet though, what if you snore?" He challenged playfully, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.

"Your such an idiot. Thats it, I'm withdrawing my invitation" she declared, her laughter bubbling beneath her words as she stood up from the bed, pretending to be serious. Before she could take more than a step, she felt Charles's arm snake around her waist, pulling her back down onto the bed. Her laughter turned into a surprised yelp as she landed beside him.

"I don't think so Cherie." his voice a soft and captivating murmur as he pulled himself above her. He hovered over her, their faces mere inches apart, their eyes locked in an intense gaze. Ellie's heart raced as she felt his warm breath on her skin, her gaze unconsciously drifting down to his lips, a subtle invitation that didn't escape his notice.

A tender smile curved Charles's lips as he watched her, his fingers brushing a loose strand of hair from her face. "You know," he began, his voice a velvety whisper, "I didn't expect the night to end like this when Emma told me you were here already."

Ellie's breath hitched as his words hung in the air, the sincerity in his eyes reaching a place deep within her. Without another word, he closed the remaining distance between them, his lips capturing hers in a gentle, yet electrifying kiss. Time seemed to stand still as their lips met, a fusion of emotions coursing through both of them.

The kiss started soft, a delicate exploration of the connection they were rekindling. But it didn't take long for the spark between them to ignite, the kiss deepening as their longing and desire for each other surged. Ellie's fingers found their way to his hair, tangling in the soft strands, while Charles's hand cupped her cheek, his thumb caressing her skin.

As they kissed, it was as if they were rewriting their history, replacing past hurts with a promise of something new and beautiful. Their hearts beat in sync, and the world around them faded into insignificance as they shared this intimate moment. The weight of their history, the pain of their past, and the hope for their future converged in that kiss.

When they finally pulled apart, their eyes met again, an unspoken understanding passing between them. Charles's forehead rested against hers, their breaths mingling. "I told you, I'm willing to wait and prove myself," he murmured, his voice full of sincerity.

Ellie's lips curved into a genuine smile. "Well, you've certainly made a convincing start," she replied, her voice a soft whisper filled with a mixture of playfulness and vulnerability.

He chuckled, a warm and content sound. "Just you wait, Ellie. There's so much more I have in store for us."

And in that hotel room, amid the dimly lit atmosphere and the flicker of their connection, they found themselves on the cusp of a new chapter—if they only knew what was going to happen, and how they would repeat their mistakes once again in the coming months.
