As Charles, Carlos, and Pierre walked slowly behind their girlfriends in the paddock, Charles couldn't keep the frustration out of his voice. "Did you really have to go and talk to her?" he asked in a low voice, eyes fixed on the ground.
Pierre, unfazed, glanced at Charles. "You're suffering, mate, and I'm not saying I talked to her so you two could get back together. Quite the opposite, actually. I just know it's killing you not being there for her, feeling like you're watching another person you love die from the outside."
Charles clenched his jaw. "I never said I loved Ellie."
Carlos scoffed, shaking his head. "Don't waste time trying to lie to us, Charles. Even Alexandra would tell you that's bullshit."
"You said she was with some footballer anyway. No one wants their ex around when they're in a new relationship," Charles retorted, the edge in his voice betraying more than he intended.
Pierre raised an eyebrow. "Is this your opinion, or Alexandra's?"
"Does it really matter?" Charles muttered, his frustration mounting.
Both Carlos and Pierre shrugged in response, exchanging a knowing look.
"Lando was right about her getting back to her old ways at least," Carlos added, trying to lighten the mood.
"Who did you say she was with, anyway? I can imagine Declan must hate his sister if she's dating one of his mates or, even worse, a rival," Charles asked, curiosity mixed with a tinge of jealousy.
Pierre smirked, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Ben something. I know he plays for Chelsea, and they call him Chilli. Maybe Mason introduced them."
Carlos burst out laughing, earning a confused look from Charles and making the girls stop and wait for them.
"What's so funny?" Rebecca asked as she, Kika and Alexandra approached.
"Ben Chilwell is Ellie's ex, like childhood sweethearts. If you think Lando is obnoxious about Ellie and George, just wait until you see him going on about those two. Apparently, they broke up when she moved to the States, and he went pro. According to Lando and Dec, he is helplessly in love with her. Lando thinks the only one who can convince Ellie to move back to England is Ben," Carlos explained, still chuckling.
"Ben is nice and very hot. I met him when Magui was with João," Kika chimed in.
"Dont you have a meeting with Andrea right about now?" Alexandra asked Charles, her disapproval of the conversation topic clear.
Charles nodded, a hint of resignation in his posture, and they said goodbye to their friends.
As Charles tried to take Alexandra's hand, she crossed her arms. "What was that about?"Charles sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Pierre apparently met Ellie, and she was getting close to this Ben."
"And you're upset about it why?" Alexandra asked, her annoyance evident.
"I'm not upset, amour," he tried to assure her, reaching for her hand again.
"Do not lie to me, Charles. I would be much more secure with what you were saying if you could just be honest about what you have been feeling since she came back, and it came out that she was sick."
When Charles just looked at the sky, searching for the right answer, Alexandra saw this as her cue to continue.
"If you want to try and win her back, I understand. When we started dating, you were very clear that you still had some feelings for her. I would not blame you if this changed things for us."
