I seriously can't seem to be happy with this chapter so I'm just going to have to put it out like this, so I am sorry if you think it's rushed, or badly written!

As Charles and Ellie began to walk away from the group, Alexandra couldn't hold back her tears any longer. She turned to Pierre and Kika, her voice shaking. "I need a moment," she said, wiping away her tears. She was feeling overwhelmed, and hurt that her boyfriend would just dismiss her like that, even though she understood.

Pierre put a comforting arm around her "Take all the time you need, Alexandra. We'll be right here."

Kika nodded in agreement, her eyes filled with sympathy towards her friend "You want me to go with you?" Alexandra shook her head and started walking away. Alexandra realized, just like Charles, this was the reason for Ellies behavior that weekend in Brazil. And Alexandra knew Charles well enough that this changed things for him, even though they had been dating a few months now.

Meanwhile, Charles and Ellie found a secluded spot where they could talk.

The two of them stood there, awkwardly silent, each burdened by their own thoughts and emotions.

Finally, Ellie broke the silence. "Well you wanted to talk..."

He nodded, his eyes filled with regret about everything that had happened that last weekend. "I don't even know what to say, I want to say everything but can't seem to find the words." He sighed.

"I just - why didn't you tell me?" He continued

Tears welled up in Ellie's eyes, but she blinked them away. "If you actually try thinking back to that weekend, I tried. It was not something I could just blurt out."

Charles took a step closer to her, his voice softening. "You could have tried harder, you didn't give me any indication that something serious was going on. You just let me believe that you were jealous"

Ellie nodded, a glimmer of anger in her eyes. "You're right, Charles. Of course I should have stopped the accusations of me being insecure about Alexandra by telling you the most heartbreaking news of my life." Her tears once again spilling before continuing, "that didn't age well now did it?"

"Things between me and Alexandra didn't start before long after we ended things." Charles defended his new relationship.

"Frankly, Charles, I'm not up for having this conversation," Ellie admitted, her shoulders slumping in defeat. She glanced away, her eyes avoiding his, and absently played with the hem of her sleeve as if trying to distract herself from the weight of the hurt she was feeling that he moved on with the girl he specifically told her not to worry about.

"No, I'm done with you just deciding the conversations over before it even starts" Charles protested, his voice firm and determined. He gestured emphatically, his hands slicing through the air to emphasize his frustration with her attempt to end their discussion prematurely.

"Well Charles, I don't care anymore. We aren't together, and you look happy with your new girlfriend" Ellie stated, her tone carrying a mix of resignation and a hint of bitterness. She crossed her arms defensively, a subtle barrier against the emotional turmoil of the conversation.

"I was happy with you, and had I known this then I would have been there for you, like I should have" Charles said, feeling like she had not even given his feelings a second chance.

"You should know me well enough to know that I would never use this type of information to keep you" Ellie tried reasoning.

"But it wouldn't have been to keep it, it would have been to clear up the situation we found ourselves in" Charles challenged, leaning forward with an intensity in his eyes. He punctuated his words with assertive gestures again, as if physically trying to cut through the confusion surrounding their past.
