Chapter 10

April 29th, 2022

After a restless night Ellie found herself leaving the comfort of her bed, deciding to go for a run. As she was about to leave the apartment she felt a hand on her shoulder and jumped while turning around to see who caused her to be close to a heart attack for the second time in 12 hours.

"MY GAD, WHAT IS IT WITH YOU ENGLISH MEN?!" She said as she hit Georges chest, trying to steady her heartbeat from the shock.

"Good morning to you too darling." He said laughing at the girl before he questioned her "Where are you headed off to?"

"A run actually, couldn't sleep any longer and felt like clearing my head for a bit." She said trying to avoid his eyes, she knew he could see right through her if she did.

"Ah, mind if I join you? With the time difference I'm actually wide awake." He said already leaving for his room to change. Leaving her standing there before she could protest.

A few minutes later they were on their way down the elevator. "So what's keeping you awake so that you're in need of a run?" He questioned.

"Nothing, just felt like it before things get to hectic with you all here." She said casually, hoping he wouldn't push the subject.

Just as George was about to press her for a better answer the elevator stopped just after a floor and opened to reveal the person Ellie wanted to clear her mind from.

"Well hello guys, what are you guys doing up at this hour?" George asked as Pierre was walking in to the elevator, while Charles was just standing there, a little surprised to see her, and unsure of what to do next.

"Good morning, we're just going for a coffee before picking up Marie and Juliette actually. They just landed" Pierre said with a smile towards the two Brit's. Just as Charles was walking in, he awkwardly gave them both a smile. "What about you two?" Pierre questioned.

"We're just going for a morning run" George said, not catching on that Charles and Ellie was trying their hardest to avoid each others sight, both staring blankly straight forward in the elevator, praying for it to end quickly.

"Ah, tell us next time and we'll join!" Pierre exclaimed excitedly, before nudging Charles "right?"

Charles shrugged "yeah".  He felt awkward, he didn't know how to act around her after the tension filled meeting just hours ago.

"I would suggest backing out while you can. Even as a high performance athlete I struggle to keep up with this one" George said with a laugh, taking his arm around her shoulders.

"You're just slow Russell, even with your long legs" Ellie said with naturally playful tone towards the tall man who was holding onto her.

"I'll be sure to give you a better running partner next time, if you'll have me. George and Charles can keep their slow pace and I'll see how good you actually are?" Pierre questioned with a big grin. 

"Sure" Ellie said with a uncomfortable laugh.

Luckily before anyone else could say anything else the elevator doors opened and Ellie found herself jumping out, and getting away as quickly as possible. "Come on Russell, I haven't got all day" she yelled as she was walking outside and started running.

"I'll see you guys later" George told them before running after her, yelling at her too wait up.

After an hour run they arrived back and got ready for the day. They spent the morning eating breakfast with everyone except Charles, Pierre and Yuki who were still helping Marie and Juliette settle in.
