Annabeth didn't like Percy Jackson in most regards, but she sure did like this .

It was the second time they'd ended up pressed against each other in a semi-public place, moans muffled in the other's neck as first Annabeth came apart on his fingers, and then Percy came apart under hers.

She'd not quite known whether to expect it again or not. She had treated him the exact same in the aftermath of their first time, of course. Jackson had treated her the same too, except that now when he winked or teased, there was an underlying heat, a charge it hadn't had before.

She'd thought she was reading too much into it until he cornered her in the supply closet when she was putting foam bricks away from her lesson.

"You've been awfully quiet for a few days, Chase," he said from behind her. Annabeth jumped, banging her head on the shelving unit. She glared and rubbed her head as she turned around to find him chuckling.

"Just doing my job, Jackson," she grumbled.

He leaned against the shelf next to her. "Not at all compensating for any... persistent thoughts?"

Annabeth stacked the final bricks on the shelf and resisted the urge to strangle him with a pool noodle. When she turned back to him with a fake smile, she just replied, "Projecting, are we?"

To his credit, Percy didn't deny it. He shrugged and admitted, "Maybe a little." With a step closer, he was suddenly verging on her personal space, his green eyes no longer skipping around the room but totally focused on her. It was enough to make any girl swoon, let alone one who knew exactly how well he could wind her up if she let him.

Still, Annabeth wasn't going to let herself be the sort of person to beg. He could close the damn gap.

"So what's your question?" she asked, her voice wavering a little as she yanked her gaze back up from where it had drifted to his chest.

Percy rolled his eyes. "Fine, I will spell it out for you. I would like to do that again, for... however long we want to."

Annabeth thought about it. She had definitely enjoyed hooking up, but wasn't keen on it getting around that she was the kind of person to make an arrangement with an asshole like Jackson. Besides, she'd seen the look Rachel sent her that night she actually joined in pool races.

"Keep it a secret?" she proposed.

"Sure."

"Are you on break now too?"

"Yep. Why do you think I came to find you?"

Annabeth sighed in annoyance before yanking Jackson towards her by the waistband of his shorts. He was too annoying to listen to any more; screw the dignity in making him be the one to close the gap, she needed to shut him up.

It was definitely a more fun lunchtime activity than the sad cheese and pickle sandwich waiting for her in the staff fridge.

The meeting up in secret to make out and fool around should have been stressful as hell, seeing as they were still, still , after three weeks, stupid enough to only do it at work. Not usually when they were actually supposed to be working, of course - that would be the quickest way to get caught - but when they both finished a shift together or had lunch scheduled the same time - well, they took advantage. And for some reason, the sneaking around was actually... fun.

She should have hated it, Annabeth thought. It should have been making her tense and jittery and hating Jackson. Instead, it just made her feel clever, maybe even a little smug.
