Chapter Text
Talking to Sam had been easy, they had settled on Wednesday for their dates. Annabeth had managed to find ways to never be in his presence, as exhausting as it was. People had asked questions, but with her icy stares and Percy's silence, nobody was getting anywhere. When the rumours started pilling up, Annabeth couldn't handle Hazel's constant questioning, or Clarisse's comments, or the saddened look on Rachel's face. Not feeling particularly talkative to Thalia either, she isolated in her studies. Finding ways to occupy her mind, that didn't involve social interactions. Her father had to get his affairs in order in Seattle, he was going to be back by Friday. They hadn't had the talk yet, Annabeth had noticed her father tiptoeing his words around her, like she was made of glass. But at last, she was alone.
Annabeth prepared for her date on her own, Piper had suggested to help, but the blonde preferred staying alone. She couldn't deal with the look of pity on her friend's face. Another one to add to the pile. Piper was the only person who knew her enough to see she was hurting. Well, actually...there was someone else. Better not think of him as she dressed up. Red flowy dress and navy heavy necklace, she had arranged her hair to cascade on her back. She looked ready to sin. As sad as it was, having sex regularly for weeks had fed her addiction. Bound to be horny, her libido hadn't gotten the memo, there was nothing on the menu tonight. Only a steak to bite.
Sam had arrived on time, like a gentleman. Dressed in a button up attire, nothing impressive, nothing she hadn't seen before. With his dirty blond hair and thin lanky body, Annabeth had received an 'I'm here' text to confirm he was the one she was waiting for. Happily agreeing to her suggestion on where to go, he hadn't missed a chance to spend time with her. Refreshing. They had settled on going to the restaurant. A fancy steakhouse.
"It's a pleasure to meet you" He smiled brightly. This guy was ready for a commitment from the looks of it. Annabeth screamed internally. "I was surprised to hear from you." They had agreed to meet in the parking lot of the Chimera. Annabeth preferred to drive herself. This way, she could escape.
"I am not surprised you accepted" She joked; he laughed nervously gesturing to the restaurant entrance. Orange, red and green were the colors used to decorate the giant steakhouse.
"Have you ever been here before?" He asked as they found their reserved table. She had, a while ago, with her girlfriends, to cheer Rachel up after the break-up with Percy, they had planned a girl's night, dressed up, and dined like fine women. The memory had nothing to do with her choice of restaurant of course.
"Yes, once, how about you?" Annabeth continued the pleasantry regretting his presence already. Had he not rejected her, they might have been the ones dining here. The blonde noticed the menus, at least half of her size, and people chatting all around. The place was known to be crowded, mostly by middle aged man and woman on dates.
"Would you like to start off with something?" The server asked the duo. The poor guy probably thought they were of age, seeing as Annabeth was usually mistaken for much older. He had handed them the wine's list.
