"Have you just like, scared children for fun?" Dean Portman questioned as he followed the girl around like a lost puppy.

Kendall laughed, picking up plates and cleaning up tables around mickeys, "no i haven't."

"Really?" He questioned incredulously. "I know it's hard to believe but not everyone is as heartless as you." Kendall snorted, stopping him as she went into the back.

He shouted after her, "hey, i have a heart. It's just very selective about who it's love goes towards."

She leaned up against the counter top as he sat on a stool. She smirked, her hands laying on her cheeks, "oh and what are these things that have won over Dean Portman's heart?"

Dean tapped his chin, acting as if he was thinking very carefully. "Well there's hockey and food."

"Of course." Kendall agreed.

"Then there's horror movies, food again, avenged sevenfold, bandanas... oh and did i mention food?" Dean counted off with this fingers, eventually earning a laugh from the girl in front of him.

He watched at how beautiful she looked when she laughed, that was something he did love. He caught himself staring, shaking it off quickly, "Oh, i almost forgot! I can't forget about my undying love for you, Kendall Conway! Forever and ever!" He shouted sarcastically, his arms extended towards her. He caused a scene as people around the diner looked over at the two.

Kendall tried to stifle her laughter, "shut it! You're gonna get me fired... bash bro."

"Good, then maybe i wouldn't have to follow you around work just to hang out with you."

She looked at boy facetiously, throwing a napkin at his face, "i'm sorry, i know i've been busy. My mind has just been kind of everywhere, keeping busy helps."

"Everywhere how?" Dean asked, his hand on his chin. Kendall wiped down the counter tops as she spoke to the boy, not being able to make eye contact, "i don't know. I guess i've just been thinking about Adam a bit... or a lot."

This is the part Dean hated the most about being the friend. When she would talk to him about other boys. He always had to act as if it didn't effect him the way it did. Thank goodness that one of his best skills were not showing his true emotions.

"But what about Lucas? Aren't you crazy in love with him?" He watched as she froze like she had forgotten something before furiously shaking her head, "yeah of course. I love Lucas. That was a stupid comment. I'm probably just thinking about Adam because i saw him the other day."

Weird. She was acting strange.

"What? Are you still thinking about him romantically?" He pushed further.

She scoffed in response, "pfft, no! No." She replied more sternly.

Dean nodded his head, skeptical as hell. "Mhmm, okay."

"I'm not!" She laughed, pushing him out of the diner. "I'll make plans soon."

"I'm holding you to that Kens," Dean smiled, finally leaving her to work. His smile faded as the door closed behind him. He knew something she probably didn't know herself. He knew she was still in love with the last boy she wanted be in love with. As much as it hurt, you couldn't choose who you love... it just happens.

Kendall had to admit she had been thinking about the blonde boy more often than not. She didn't know why, but ever since she saw him at the diner it had been harder to close her mind off about him.
