APRIL
Kendall walked around the empty diner, cleaning the filthy tables that had been disregarded after the dinner rush. Her body was stretched out across one of the tables, reaching a syrup spill spot.
This particular table had a huge window which overlooked a couple saying their good nights... or more like chewing off each other's faces. She knew one of the teens particularly well, it just happened to be none other than Adam Banks with his girl of the month.
The brunette disregarded the syrup spot altogether. Sighing loudly, she moved to the other side of the diner.
"What was that all about?" Her coworker noted, calling out her previous agitation. "Nothing. I'm fine." Kendall replied quickly as she harshly scrubbed another table off.
Her coworker, Renee, raised a questioning eyebrow, looking to the girls previous table. She had no more questions.
"Isn't that your ex boyfriend out there, chewing some girls lips off?" Renee smirked, taunting the girl for a confession.
"Yeah, so?"
"And how does that make you feel?"
Kendall didn't look at her as she moved on to the next table, "it makes me feel nothing. We're just good friends."
"Nothing more?" She pushed.
"Nope. Nothing more. My feelings for him are far behind me." She responded assuredly. Renee nodded her head unbelievably, "uh huh."
"Hey Kens!" The doors opened and the girls dispersed. "Adam, hi."
He looked around the diner, an idea rushing to his mind. "It's pretty slow right now."
She snorted, "yeah, finally!" His smirk widened, "are you able to get off early?"
She answered absentmindedly, "how early?" He stepped closer, "like... now?"
She paused. Yeah sure, her and Adam were becoming closer again, but they hadn't hung out just the two of them since that day in the snow.
A lot had changed since that day. A lot.
Kendall was a good liar to others but never to herself. Her feelings for him were in fact, not behind her but very much present. Her feelings for him never went away, they just grown dormant, but now it was spring and they were back stronger than ever.
She couldn't be alone with him. "Uh, i can't. There is still a lot to do."
"Oh come on, it's empty!" He protested, gesturing around.
"I really just can't tonight."
"Go on Kendall! Me and Russ got it." Renee shouted over the counter. Kendall turned her head, sending the most venomous glare.
"See Kendall, her and Russ got it! Come on, get your stuff. I'll be waiting outside." He smiled widely, exiting the small diner. The girl turned on her heels, staring down her once friend, "i'm gonna kill you."
"Oh you're welcome!" Renee laughed. The girl reluctantly took off her work attire and grabbed her bag.
"Have a good night!" Renee shouted in a sing song voice as she went for the door. Kendall rolled her eyes before she braved face.
"You ready?" Adam smiled as the girl stood stiff. "Yep."
"Good. Let us go then." He lead the way to his Porsche, opening the passenger side door.
