i love you & i'm sorry

FLASHBACK TO MAY...

Adam Banks had laid back against his couch, a sports illustrated magazine in his hands. His dad entered the room placing down the coat to his suit. Philip Banks had began to hum, gaining the blonde boys attention.

"Son? Could i talk to you for a second," he finally questioned, working up enough courage to talk about a touchy subject.

Adam peered over his magazine, before sighing and sitting up straight, "sure Dad. What's up?"

Mr. Banks took the empty spot beside him, his hands clasped together. "How have you been feeling?"

The boy scrunched his eyebrows in confusion, placing down his magazine, "uh i've been fine."

"Good. Good." He muttered, clearing his throat and continuing on, "it just seems like you have been in an ongoing slump since you and the Conway girl broke up."

Adam rolled his eyes, "her name is Kendall, Dad."

His tone came off angrier than expected. But every time his Dad mentioned her it was always the conway girl. It pissed him off.

Philip sensing the hostility, backed up a bit, "of course! Of course, Kendall. Are you planning on getting back together with her?"

He knew his father never truly approved of them dating. Kendall didn't have a high enough status that was good for him. His father was a rich prick and he wanted his sons to date other rich pricks.

"I don't know, i would like to. Where are you going with this?" Adam spoke beginning to get agitated, it never went well when he talked to his father about Kendall. It's why he always went to his mother, or Jack.

His father tried to wear a sympathetic face when turning to the boy, "don't you think you should move on? Get a new girlfriend? I know it's hard and sad but if i am correct the conway girl doesn't have any feelings for you."

"Holy hell! Can't you ever just say her fucking name? It's not like it's going to make you any poorer!" Adam stood to his feet, not being able to sit next to him.

"I'm sorry. I know it's hard to hear son but maybe this was all a good thing. With... Kendall... losing feelings for you it brings greater opportunities for other beautiful girls."

Adam rolled his eyes, placing his hands on hips and scoffing, "yeah. Other beautiful girls with Porsches and Lamborghinis, relying on their daddy's trust fund right? Those kind of girls?"

Philip Banks remained silent, his elbows on his knees as he crunched over. "Maybe it would be good to give something new a try, Adam."

The boy remained standing, biting his cheek. Not even being able to look at his dad. Philip stood to his feet, walking over to the boy.

"Look, i know you really loved Kendall and i am sorry that it ended. But i am also a concerned father who wants to see his son happy. Moving on could make you happy." His hands found a way to the boys shoulders.

"I tried moving on. It didn't work."

"Well we'll just have to try harder." He paused looking at his son who didn't seem too convinced. "My friend, Mr. Regaldi from the club has invited us to his house in Europe for the summer. He has a beautiful daughter about your age, seems to be just your type. Maybe you should try to get to know her, spending a summer with her. It could be just what you need. It would make me so happy son."

At that moment Adam had wanted to say fuck your happiness. But deep down it was what he craved the most. His fathers approval. Being proud of him. If what his Dad said was true about Kendall not having any feelings for him, then what could hurt him now?

If he didn't have Kendall, then he could at least make his father proud.

"Okay, dad. I'll meet her."

His fathers face brightened as he smiled from ear to ear, "great! And Europe?"

Adam nodded his head with a small smile, "sure. Why not."

"That's my boy."

Once his dad left the room he brushed a hand through his hair, he was doing the right thing. Right?

JUNE - THAT ONE NIGHT...

The boy laid on his side, Kendall's hair trailing on his arms as she was snuggled into his chest. She had fallen asleep quickly, Adam wishing he could've done the same.

His fingers absentmindedly rubbed circles against the girls bare back. She was so beautiful as she slept peacefully. He couldn't believe it was real. He was so sure she had wanted nothing to do with him. Yet, she was now laying in his arms.

A smile was placed onto his face as he thought back to the previous moments. The two had moved in sync the whole time, like the other had been their missing piece.

He was proud of himself for finally having the courage to express how he truly felt, about everything. Although his courage couldn't have come at a worse time.

He wished he had found this courage a month ago before he agreed to a whole summer trip. Before he had met another girl.

Mackenzie was sweet, beautiful, and kind. But she wasn't Kendall. Three months wasn't going to change that.

That moment with Kendall was something he had wanted for a long time. His first time was just how he wanted it to be. But now he had a commitment to his dad.

He wished he could've had the strength to stop it but he couldn't. When the something he had wanted for years finally happened, everything and everyone else had been forgotten.

Kendall had always had that affect on him. She could make his mind go blank by one glance, one touch. It had always been that way. She was the only one who could make him forget everything.

And now he was screwed.

He had to leave for the airport in a couple of hours. To go to Europe with another girl for the whole summer. It was now the last thing he wanted to do.

He knew how bad it would hurt the girl in his arms, it was hurt he would regret forever. He had fucked up. Why couldn't he ever just be perfect for her.

His heart beat out of his chest as the time ticked. Kendall still asleep. He knew the series of events that were about to unfold and he felt like a piece of crap.

He kissed the girl on the forehead as he slipped out of bed, tiptoeing away. He grabbed his close off the floor, dressing quietly.

He didn't know what to do, but now he had to deal with the consequences of his actions. The easiest way would be to make her hate him again. As much as it hurt, he hoped by his note she would move on. That she could soon learn to be happy again.

She was what he wanted, everything that he said had been true but time had never been in their favor.

Kendall,
I have to go... last night was a mistake. I am so sorry for everything.
-Adam

It would never be a mistake.

"I love you, kens." He whispered as he stood at the foot of her door, looking at her one last time. One day he would explain everything, but for now he wanted the moment to last for a few more hours.

That night was a moment he would never forget. He had been with the girl he loved, in one last perfect moment.

"And i am so sorry."
