Chapter 08: SIRIUS

I woke up with a sight of a familiar room-it's Brendt's room. I didn't know what happened last night or how did I end up here, but I feel so much better now.

I turned to look at the lamp desk and I found my purse at the top of it. Inabot ko 'yon para kunin ang aking cell phone. I was welcomed by ninety-eight missed calls and five messages, all from Sean.

I read all of his messages but only one message struck my mind with sudden realization that he only cares because I'm the mother of his unborn child.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒚 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎 𝒚𝒐𝒖.

I heard a faint knocks on the door and I immediately wiped my tears off my face. I waited for Brendt to go inside the room and he did after a while to tell me to eat breakfast.

Brendt cooked so many foods and I don't think I can finish all of it.

Tahimik akong nagsimulang kumain at napatigil lang ng tumunog ang aking cell phone dahil sa isang tawag. Sean's name flashed on the screen. I stared at my phone until the call ended. And when he called again, I decided to finally answer his call.

I took a deep breath before picking up the call. "Hello-"

"D*mn, Sandra!" Ang pagmumura niya ang agad na bumungad sa akin. "I've been calling you since last night. I also sent you messages but I never got a reply. Kahit sana ipaalam mo lang sa akin na safe ka, it's already okay for me. Pero wala, wala akong natanggap na kahit ano."

"Bakit ka ba kasi tumatawag?" I tried to sound tough, like I don't care even if he called me over a hundred of times.

"Anong bakit?" he sounded so frustrated. "Where are you? I'm f*cking getting crazy just to find where you are. Nasaan ka ba? Are you fine? Is our baby fine?"

Napapikit naman ako nang mariin. "Uuwi rin ako. 'Wag kang mag-alala. Walang nangyaring masama sa bata. I'm not that stupid para ipahamak ang anak natin. Bye." I assured him. I ended the call right before he can say another thing. He called again but I just switched my phone to silent and do not disturb mode before I continued to eat.

There were a lot of leftovers when we finished eating, that's why Brendt packed some leftovers for me to take home since I praised the delicious dishes he cooked.

Brendt drove me home afterwards. He won't let me commute and go home all by myself even if I tried to convince him a few times that he doesn't need to drive me home.

"Thank you so much for everything, Brendt." I sincerely thanked him when we arrived at home.

"Anytime you need me, Sandra." He smiled at me.

Tumango na lang ako at nagpaalam na bago lumabas kanyang sasakyan. He rolled down the car's window just to wave at me before he finally left.

Huminga muna ako nang malalim bago napagdesisyunang pumasok sa loob ng bahay nang mawala na sa aking paningin ang kanyang sasakyan. Halos mapatalon ako nang mapalingon sa gilid ng sala at nakitang nakahalukipkip si Sean habang nakatingin lang sa labas ng bintana.

"Sino 'yong naghatid sa 'yo?" he asked without looking at me.

"A friend." I simply answered.

"Si Brendt ba yon?" mapaghinalang tanong niya at saka ako nilingon.
