Epilogue

Iniwas ko ang tingin ko kay Shannen, kaya hindi siya nagtagumpay na halikan ako sa labi. Sumayad lamang ang labi niya sa pisngi ko.

"I'm married now, Shannen, and we're going to have a child soon," pag-amin ko sa kanya.

With her eyes widened from my sudden revelation, Shannen lifted her gaze at me. It was pretty obvious that she doesn't believe in what I've just said.

"I'm not bluffing just to make myself less of a jerk because I'm really married."

"How come I didn't know about it? I should've known, Sean! I still have contacts with our mutual friends while I'm away," hindi pa rin siya makapaniwala.

"It was a very intimate and secretive wedding. Only our closest relatives were invited. That's what I want because it was only an arranged marriage."

"But it's clearly different now?" she asked.

I nodded. "It's clearly different now."

"Can I ask another question, Sean? Before I finally let you go..."

"Of course," I simply said.

"Is the girl you're married to... her?" she carefully asked.

She didn't have to tell me who's the girl that she's talking about. I don't have to ask her who is she pertaining to.

We both know.

Once again, I nodded and smiled. "Yes. It's her."

Shannen forced herself to laugh even though her tears won't stop from falling. She just kept on wiping her endless tears as she laugh off what I said.

"I can't believe that I'm pushing myself to be a mistress," I heard her whisper to herself before she raised her gaze at me.

"Just go now, Sean. Go now."

"Shan..." umakto akong tutulungan siya sa pagtayo ngunit hinawi niya lang ang aking kamay.

"Go!" she raised her voice at me like she really wanted me to leave her.

I want to console her more but I need to catch up on my wife. Hindi ako nagkaroon ng chance na makapagpaliwanag sa kanya at ipagsigawan sa lahat kung gaano ko siya kamahal.

I realized how much I've taken her for granted. How blind I was before for not seeing how much she means to me. How numb I was for not feeling how I really feel for her. How much I wasted all the time I have with her.

They say that you will only know the importance of a person in your life once they're gone. I kinda have that situation when she left.

When I lost her, it was like there's no moon and stars shining in the night sky nor the sun lighting up the day. It feels like my heart is still beating without blood running through its veins and arteries. It's like I'm breathing with no air. It may all seem impossible but that's how I feel the moment she left.

"I won't sign that," mariin kong sabi kay Atty. Cane at ihinagis ang papel na dala niya.

She's Ashley Cane, Sandra's cousin who's a lawyer. She delivered the papers that I will never sign.

I can't believe, Sandra. How dare she hid and just surprised me with papers for the petition of an annulment? Did she really think that I will sign those papers?

"I'm already expecting that, Sean," sabi naman niya habang tumatango-tango.

"Do you know that I can still file this without your consent? I can win this case in the court," she confidently stated.
