Alex was shell shocked as to why this random maid had asked him this.

"Okay uh, I may have misheard you. Could you repeat that again?" He asked.

"I'd appreciate if you'd let us stay with you." Casually said the maid as Alex nodded.

"Okay cool. Cool cool cool cool cool. Follow up question. Why exactly would I let two random strangers into my house? No offense obviously."

"Non taken." Said Rita as she knew better than to lie at this point. "Long story short, we're on the run from someone and desperately need shelter. If you let us in, I can explain to you the story in full."

Alex thought this over for a bit before sighing as he motioned them to sit on the couch as he closed the door.

Rita sat on the couch and told Kaitlyn to go walk around, meaning that this conversation definitely wasn't one that she was supposed to hear.

Eventually, Alex sat next to Rita.

"Alright explain. What's the story?"

"Well, while this benefits the both of us, I'm mainly doing this for the kid."

"Really?"

"Yes. Kaitlyn's, gone through a tough time."

"How so?"

"She, lost her mother at the age of five."

Alex immediately had gone quiet, not really sure on how to react to that sudden bombshell as Rita resumed talking.

"Her mother was a very special person who met a tragic end. Kaitlyn's mother meant everything to her father, so much so that the man became devastated."

"Judging from how you said that, I can assume this is where things get bad right?" Asked Alex as Rita nodded.

"Her father was a well renewed scientist. Because he couldn't bear life without his spouse, he persued cloning. In a desperate attempt to get her back, he performed many experiments on multiple women younger or near his wife's s age to perfectly make a clone."

Alex was bewildered now.

He knew that people did crazy things out if love, but to be so lovestruck that they'd attempt perfect cloning?

That was just something he couldn't really wrap his head around.

"Kaitlyn ended up being one of his test subjects. Kaitlyn being the daughter was the most against it and always resisted against him. That resulted in an incident."

"Incident?"

"One day, Kaitlyn cried for hours straight as she couldn't handle being experimented on anymore. Her simply removed her vocal cords to shut her up."

At this point, Alex didn't even wanna believe what he was hearing.

"Y-You're kidding, right?" Was all Alex could say as Rita shook her head no and handed him a photo revealing the aftermath of the incident.

In the photo, Alex saw a fresh red scar from Kaitlyn's neck down to the start of her chest.

The boy was beginning to have trouble composing himself but quickly calmed down.

"C-Continue."

"I served directly underneath her father as his right hand man so I was a witness to everything prior. After that incident, I couldn't just sit back anymore. After he was done experimenting with Kaitlyn, I would always take her out secretly for a fun day. I wound up becoming a parental figure for her. Unfortunately, her father became more aware of his surroundings and was suspicious of me. I knew I couldn't continue caring for Kaitlyn, but I also didn't wanna leave her with him. So, we ran away. We've barely been skating past detection for a while now and have desperately needed shelter. We saw this compled and knocked on a couple of doors. You were the first to answer." Explained Rita.

"I see. So basically I'm housing two fugitives on the run?" He asked.

"Basically yes. You are." Replied Rita as Alex just sighed.

"Look, I understand the situation you're in but this is a bit much for someone like me to handle. I'm just a kid ya know."

"I understand your concern but please. I beg you to let us stay until we're in the clear." Pleased Rita as she bowed. "If anything else, I just want to give Kaitlyn a home where she's finally at peace. She deserves it more than anything else in the world."

Alex began to think this over.

While housing two fugitives wasn't exactly on his bingo card, he could tell that Rita was desperate and with what he heard aboht Kaitlyn, he definitely felt bad for the kid. All of that would end up deciding Alex's decision.

"Alright fine. You two can stay until the coast is clear."

"Thank you. I'll go move in our belongings now."

"Just don't take too long." Said Alex as Rita nodded.

She then walked off and grabbed Kaitlyn who broke the news to her as Kaitlyn immediately dashed at and gave Alex a big hug.

The boy was taken a back by this as he awkwardly gave a gentle hug back.

"Aww. So adorable." Said Rita enjoying this moment.

"Get your crap. You're wasting time."

Rita chuckled as she held Kaitlyn's hand and left as Kaitlyn smiled and waved at Alex before leaving.

Alex sighed before walking over to his room where he saw the Admin book still in it's usual spot.

He walked over and opened it to see that the book had tracked the recent events that had just taken place.

Not that Alex expected it not to, but he just wanted to make sure.

Before he closed it, the book began to speak once more.

"So, you opted to house those two? That was a good choice. I'm proud of you." It said as Alex just shrugged it off.

"Yeah yeah whatever don't look too much into it. It was just the sensible choice." He said.

"Aww come on. No need to hide your true feelings." Said the book in a teasing tone.

"I already regret opening you up again."

"Rude. You better not-!"

Alex immediately closed the book again before pondering to himself about his decision.

'Hopefully this doesn't get too far out of hand.'

Hours would pass as even after taking in two people into his apartment room, the day went by peacefully.

Alex and Rita had come to an agreement that while Alex would provide the two a home to stay in, Rita would assist him around the house as the maid she was despite Alex's protests.

Granted she didn't do much as Alex himself more or less stayed on top of his chores and rarely let his place devolve into a mess, but Rita definitely helped out when it came to cooking food for herself, Alex, and Kaitlyn.

Night would fall as Alex was laid down on his bed after Rita and Kaitlyn had both went to sleep in one of Alex's guest rooms.

As he laid down, he wondered just how quickly his isolated life changed.

Just a few days ago he was alone.

Now he agreed to house an abused child and a maid on the run into his apartment.

Even thinking about it more made Alex confused until he remembered something Uni had told him a while back as he chuckled to himself.

"Maybe Uni was right." He said as he lied on his side with a small smile.

"Under my introversion, I'm full of sympathy."

After that Alex slept, beginning the first day of this sudden agreement.
