Chapter 29: Chance Meeting

Days had passed since Roy had assigned the Elrics their job of taking down the supposed Homunculus.

The brothers had essentially looked everywhere to try and find any clues or anything usual but despite multiple steak outs and all nighters, nothing ever seemed out of the ordinary.

This ticked off Ed as he wasn't really the patient type and the fact that the two pretty much just head first into it without taking a break or even asking about a specific location to look at.

Currently the two made their way to the A.G.C. to inform Roy of what's happened so far.

After a short walk the two entered the building and greeted a couple of members before they finally walked over to his office.

One knock later and the two were now sitting in his office as Roy turned to face them.

"So. How's it gone so far you two?" He asked.

Ed scoffed. "Boy wouldn't you like to know." He said sarcastically as Al awkwardly chuckled.

Roy gave a small smile and knew this was the brothers way of saying not good.

"I take that as no good?" He asked with a smirk as Al nodded as this smirk quickly got Ed annoyed.

"Could you help us out for christ sakes? I mean hell you didn't even give us any locations of sightings to go check out. Becajse of that we've basically been looking over tons of random spots haven't gotten a single glimpse or view of anything noteworthy. If anything it seems like tbis Homunculus crap was all just something you made up." Said Ed.

Roy simply sighed as he knew something like this could've happened if things didn't go their way.

"Listen FullMetal. I understand your frustrations but please bear with me. I will admit fault on not giving a location to go explore but an exact location is unknown at the moment. Best I can say is to go look somewhere in the woods. You're gonna have to be lucky essentially."

"LUCKY!?"

Ed immediately tried to lunge at Roy only for Alphonse to successfully hold his brother back as he sat and mananged to calm him down all while Roy had a small laugh over all this.

"Listen boys. I have the utmost confidence in both of you. I'm sure you'll be able to crack the case in the upcoming days." Said Roy having high confidence in the brothers.

Al smiled while Ed kept the same unamused expression before they got up and left the room as Al quickly thanked Roy for his time before he followed Ed out of the room.

They left HQ shortly afterwards as Ed punched a tree in frustration.

"What the hell are we supposed to do now!?" He shouted as Al kept quiet as he himself didn't know either.

"We've quite literally done everything we could do to find a person yet nothing has turned up!"

"M-Maybe we should trust what the Colonel said." Al said trying to calm his brother down.

"The Colonel was probably just spouting all that lucky nonsense cause he enjoys having us run around with no clue about what we're doing." Replied Ed as Al sighed.

"Brother. I'm sure the Colonel wouldn't be messing around when it comes to the topic of a Homunculus."

"That's what you think."

After a brief banter between the brothers, the two continued to walk off as they began to think and discuss on what they were gonna do now after their talk with Roy.

Much to their dismay, they had no choice but to continue their usual routine of staking out and hope to god that something will turn out this time.

The brothers sighed as they knew they weren't gonna have it easy at all as they'd eventually go to do whatever they did to pass time until the night and hoped that it would go different this time than it had gone the previous couple of days.

[The Next Day]

Ed felt a poke on his shoulder as he slowly opened his eyes to see Alphonse standing over him.

He yawned and sat up stretching for a bit before he sat up.

"Should I even ask?" Said Edward as Alphonse sighed and shook his head no as Ed groaned.

"That's it! I'm gonna march into that idiot's office and knock his teeth out so he can give us actual help cause this crap is annoying the hell outta me!"

Ed immediately began to run off towards HQ as Al followed behind him.

Once they were close they began to powerwalk.

"Ed calm down! Let's try and get help from Alex and not bother the Colonel! He did say he would be willing to aid us." Said Al but Ed was having none of it.

"As much as I'd like to I highly doubt he'd make a difference. There's no one out there that coul-".

Before Ed could finish speaking he suddenly bumped into someone as he fell onto the ground with a thud.

"Brother! Watch where your going!" Said Al a little upset at Ed as he was about to pick him up until the person Ed had bumped into offered their hand as Ed accepted it and stood up.

"Thanks for that. Sorry for bumping into you. My name's Edward and he's my little brother Alphonse." He said as the person smiled and nodded their head.

"Apology accepted you two. I'm Akari Satsuki."

Both Ed and Al looked at Akari for a bit before speaking.

To them they hadn't ever seen a single person that stood out as much as Akari did.

'The pink blinds my eyes a bit.' Ed jokingly thought to himself as he shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you Ms. Akari. What's someone like you doing around here?" Asked Ed as Akari chuckled.

"Oh not much. Just here to mess around with my step brother for a while and annoy him." She said with a smile.

"Your brother works here?" Asked a curious Alphonse as Akari nodded.

"Yep! It's always amusing to see my favorite firecracker lose it." She said.

The brothers heard the word firecracker and immediately put two and two together as they were suprised.

"Y-You're the idiot's sister!?" Said a shocked Edward.

"Well step sis to be more exact but yep! I am." Casually said Akari.

"B-But the Colonel's never said anything about you. In fact this is the first time we've ever heard of and seen you." Said Alphonse to which Akari playfully pouted.

"I see my brother is more brain dead than I assumed." Said Akari with a hint of anger.

"Tell me about it. He's probably been enjoying having us run around all over the place. We just came here to have him give us actual help and not just spout some nonsense." Said Ed.

"Well then let me handle him boys. With me harassing him you two will have your help in no time. Come on."

With that, Akari and the Elrics walked into HQ together and immediately made their way up to Roy's office.
