Friday 6th August 1991
I wake up slowly, the light from my window beaming onto my eyes. My fingertips gently touch the rough mattress, attempting to bring me back to reality after an eventful dream. I sit up and lean on the headboard of my bed, adjusting my eyes to the light. I look at my alarm clock. The time reads 9:12am. I decide that I should probably get up.
I shift out of my bed and walk toward my closet to pick out an outfit.
I choose some brown cargo trousers and a green jumper. I then brush my hair and put it up into two loose braids.
I make my way downstairs, the smell of black coffee hitting my nose. My guardians favourite.
"Good morning." I say to him. His eyes don't leave his newspaper.
"There's a letter here for you." He replies. He doesn't tend to talk much, only when needed.
I walk over to the table and look at the letter. On the front it reads,
'Miss Lilith Eden Riddle
16 Spinner's End
Cokeworth'
On the back is a red stamp, with four animals on it, a lion, a snake, an eagle, and a badger. I recognise it to be a Hogwarts letter, as Severus has received many of these before. Finally my acceptance letter has arrived.
I look at Severus excitedly. He returns the look, with a smirk on his face.
I open my letter and read the first page.
'Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)
Dear Lilith,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

I then read the list of books and equipment.
'UNIFORM
First-year students will require:
1.Three sets of plain work robes (black)
2.One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear
3.One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
4.One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings)
Please note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags.

Students may also bring an owl OR a cat OR a toad.
PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICK'
"When can I go get all of this?" I ask my guardian. He finally puts down his newspaper.
"Monday." He replies, before getting up to make another coffee.
'Only 2 days.' I think to myself.
