𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Chapter 22

~October 26th 2023 ~

"KaiLani." Aces' voices echoed through the room as he walked in. "Bathroom." I shouted, continuing applying my lashes. I realized I haven't felt pretty in a while so I decided to get dressed up and go out to take some time to myself.

Aces figured apparently in the mirror as he stood in the doorway. "We need to talk about something." He said, "Yes, we do." I agreed. His brow rose as he walked towards me standing behind me. "You can go first." He said, after finishing my makeup which was very natural and simple. I sprayed setting spray and fanned my face. "So Kalias's birthday is in a week and he loves watching Disney movies, and he loves monster inc so I'm thinking about doing a monster inc party. I started ordering things yesterday and meant to tell you but I didn't see you yesterday and you weren't here when I woke up."

"I had some things to take care of today at the office so I went to do that. I think he'll love it and we can do it here like a house party. We have enough space In the backyard." I sighed, "That's what I forgot to tell you, I was doing the party in New York because all his friends from school are there and so is Luka."

His expression was unreadable, "I wish you would've told me sooner but that's fine, it's his birthday. Does he have his outfit and everything? And we can leave Sunday so it'll give us time to settle in before his birthday." I gasp, "And Halloween, we can take him trick or treating." His face turned into confusion, "Trick or Treating?" He asked, I nodded. "Yeah, Halloween it's what you do. You know, dress up in costumes, go from door to door, say trick or treat and get candy."

He shook his head, face still full of confusion "Yeah, I don't know. Never did it." My jaw dropped, "Why not? Did you even have a childhood?" His head dropped as his face turned sad. I could tell I struck a nerve. "Never mind, you don't have to talk about it." He took his jacket off and threw it on the chair. "No, I can tell you still don't trust me fully because I haven't answered all your questions so I'm gonna be fully transparent."

I hesitated looking at his current state. He sat on the double sink countertop. "Ask away." My grandma always said a person's eyes say it all because the eyes lead to the soul. Someone can look you dead in the eyes and lie to you but if you really pay attention you'll notice they lied because they're eyes and soul reveal everything.

"Why did you leave and why didn't you tell me why you left?"

"I didn't want to leave, and when I tell you this if you run away and take Kalias with you I'll understand completely." He hesitated slightly before starting his next sentence.

"I'm the Don of the most powerful Italian mafia in the world. My father was very inconsiderate and abusive. He tortured me and if it wasn't me it was Zane, when I got old enough, maybe around sixteen I made a plan to run. Zane was too afraid to go with me so he stayed. When I ran, I ran far and cut off all communications. Nobody knew where I was going, not even me, I knew that when I did run it was only a certain amount of time before he found me. I still did school online in Italy so he thought I was still in Italy since I didn't register into a different school. I stayed in Atlanta then moved to New York and met you. When I met you I knew deep down I was wrong for wanting to be with you but I couldn't resist. My dad found me and told me to come back or he was going to kill you slowly and make me watch so then I broke up with you and the rest is history."

As he explained I felt really bad because from my point of view it seemed he was just being a dick, but it was more than that. He didn't want to leave, he had to, he was protecting me from his father. I feel guilty deep down, I just wish he would've told me sooner. I don't know what to do now, or how to feel because technically it wasn't his fault he left, he had to leave. I mean he could've broken up with me a little better than a damn text message but anyway.

"Please say something." He spoke, his voice drifted me out of deep thought. "I-I'm sorry you went through that, thank you for telling me." Wrapping my arms around his waist as my head hit his chest he instantly wrapped his arms around my shoulder pulling me into him. I could tell he really needed a hug after this.

I pulled back from the hug seeing tears brim his eyes. It broke my heart seeing him in pain, my hands found a place on the side of his head pulling his face down kissing his forehead, a few tears fell from his eyes. My forehead connected with his as tears fell from his eyes. "You didn't deserve the treatment he gave you." I reassured, "I'm so sorry baby."

"Please let me be the father that I didn't have to Kalias. Let me show him what fatherly love is. Please, let me love him and you. I want a family." He said through his tears. I hugged him close, "it's okay Ace, I'm so sorry you went through that. I'm not going anywhere."

He pulled away from his sniffling, his eyes and nose redder than ever, and his eyes puffy from crying. "Hey, let's go out and take some time, just us." I suggest. He nodded softly, "Okay."
