Chapter 8

Darien and I sped to the hotel she was in to pay her a visit and try to fix things. I drove my All black lambo while Darien was in that was like mine but white. Once we arrived at the hotel we walked to the front desk to see if she was still here. "C-salve signor Moretti, come posso aiutarla oggi?" H-hello Mr Moretti, H-how can I help you t-today? The lady at the desk stuttered out.

I rolled my eyes, "Mi serve la chiave della stanza di KaiLani Brown." I need the room key to KaiLani Brown's room. Her hands shookly typed on the computer, Scary ass. After a while she finally speaks, "H-Hanno controllato circa quindici minuti fa" S-she checked out about fifteen minutes ago

My anger struck, "Cazzo!" I yelled. Darien looked at me. " Nigga calmati," he started. Nigga calm down, He looked at the scared lady at the front desk, "Per caso potresti sapere dov'è andata?" Do you by any chance might know where she went? He asked calmly. "she i suoi bagagli, quindi se ne andava. she fatto il check-out." S-she had her bags so she was leaving. She checked out.

"Grazie." Darien said, grabbing my arm walking away. "She's not here, she left." I said, "really I totally didn't fucking know." Darien comes back sarcastically. I called Zane, "She's not here, the receptionist said she left to see if she checked into any other hotel in Rome." I asked, after moments of silence he said no. I sighed not knowing what to do. "Find as much information on her as you can and send me the file." He agreed then hung up the phone.

I looked at Darien and sighed, "I just want to fix this." I said sitting on the curb outside the hotel. Darien sighed sitting next to me. "I know that but you're going at this wrong. From her perspective you said fuck her you want nothing to do with her or her baby then try and come back into their life. She doesn't know why your intentions are, you could just be trying to fuck her and dip. But she has a child to think about now her main concern is the best for her child. Based on the way that child spoke to you he's been wanting to be around you. So imagine the pain he'd feel if you came into his life then left. That pain falls on her and that's a pain she can't heal."

Listening to Darien I understand more. I really did come at this the wrong way, but now I don't know where she is so I can't fix this. "How do you know so much about women?" I asked. His head hangs low. "Because my dad did the same thing to me and my mom that you're doing to KaiLani. You might be my best friend but I'll be damned if I see another boy grow up without a father." He gets up dusting himself off walking to his car, "Let's go we got someone to find." He said getting in his car.

Though Darien and I are best friends we didn't meet until we were fourteen I didn't know much about his past. We met at a masquerade that was really a chance for mafias to either plot on each other, kill each other, or become acquainted. I saw Darien working as a male waiter. I accidentally bumped into him on the way back from the bathroom. He was sneaking a drink of wine when I saw him. We decided to try it together then become friends. When I asked him about his past he only talked about his mother. I now know why.

I got a message from Zane. It was the file.

The rest was information I already knew. All I needed was her address. I smiled walking to my car, as I drove home I was happy. I'm going to go to New York and get things straightened out.

As I pulled into the large garage parking my car. Once I got out walking to the front door Darien walked next to me, "You have that look on your face." He said, "What look?"

"That look of "I got a plan"." He said, I chuckled. "What are you about to do?" I rolled my eyes, "I'm going to New York to see KaiLani just in case she did go home. Listen I regret not hearing her out that night okay, I didn't even want to leave her in the first place. I ran away from the Mafia just to live normal for a while then ended up meeting her. I fell in love and then when my father found out where I was he forced me to take over. I didn't want to leave, and if I would have listened to her that night I wouldn't have left for damn sure." I walked upstairs to pack my bags so I could take my jet to New York.

I want a family, I want my family.
