I sat in my usual spot which was between Conrad and Jackson. As the meal started Steven and Jeremiah were laughing at something on Stevens phone.
"Steven so help me if you don't put your phone away it's going in phone jail" Laurel says
"We just want to see your beautiful faces, let's make dinners a screen free zone like old times" Susannah says with a warm smile.
Steven continue to look at her phone before Jeremiah grabs it from his hands and shoots it into the basket.
"Ayo" Jeremiah shouts while flexing his muscles.
"Oh wow Jer someone's been working out" I tell him and see his face starting to turn a shade of pink
"Ok ok we get it you got abs now Jeremiah" Steven says
"your just jealous steven" Belly chimes in.
"actually the lean look is in. Makes you look better in tailored suits" Steven says
"ha tailored suits" Conrad says under his breath so only I could hear.
"Steven I don't know about everyone else but I sure don't wanna see you in a tailored suit anytime soon man." Jackson says while laughing.
The whole table starts laughing at that point.
"Ya Steven you're just mad Jer has a nicer body than you" Belly say between laughs.
Steven rolls his eyes and try's to changing the conversations
"So Conrad when do you leave for camp" Steven asks
The table went quiet excepting him to tell us a date. Jeremiah breaks the silence by saying "Conrad quite football".
"Wha-what do you mean you quit football you were so good, you were going to play college ball" Jackson says in a worrisome tone
Jackson only started playing football to be like Conrad, so I get why he's upset.
"Well he can always change his mind" Susannah tells everyone
"I'm not going to change my mind" Conrad said in a deep voice
And another wave of silence comes over the table.
This time my mom breaks it, "Beck have you told Bells yet!"
"Oh my gosh I almost forgot!" Susannah tells her
Susannah gets up and grabs an envelope.
"here belly!" Susannah's voice is filled with excitement
As Belly is opening to envelope we all lean in to take a look at what it is.
"Wh-what is it?" Steven asks
"Well I was able to get Bells an invitation to be a debutante!" Susannah tells us when wide eyes and a big smile.
My mom places her hand in Belly's shoulder and says "Belly it will be so fun Lu did it three years ago and had a great time, I think you be love it!"
Laurel shakes her head and says "Belly is not a deb, it's so old fashion, like it's basically saying 'hey world i'm ready to get married and have a babies'"
"No it's not, well not anymore at else, not it's meant for young girls to show society that they are mature young women" My mom tells her
"Haha wow! you really think Belly is mature, she had a funeral for our cat after it died" Steven says
"Shut up Steven, I heard you crying all night" Belly spits back.
"Mochi died? I'm sorry bells" Jeremiah says
"Well Belly will you do it?" Susannah asks
"Deb balls are for sheep" Conrad utters
"Ouch, I was a deb and you were my date asshole" I say to him.
"Well not including you" Conrad says trying to save his own ass
"Ya sure whatever Con. Well Belly I think you should do it. It's an amazing way to meet girls and you get to dress up." I tell her
Belly shakes her head and responds with "i'll think about it"
"Well did you hear that she will think about it!" Susannah cheers.
