Drew's POV
Our flight to Cali wasn't so bad, I was a little scared since I haven't been in a plane for a long time, but having Cassie with me didn't feel so bad. The flight felt pretty short, but I think that was because Cassie and I slept most of the way.
After our flight, we took a cab to Cassie's foster home since she insisted that we go to her house to pick up the rest of her stuff and to basically face her foster family and get it over with.
I pulled out a suitcase from the trunk of the cab, "so this is where you live." I examined the neighborhood. It had a row of traditional looking houses down the street, most of them looked similar to each other and others stood out. Cassie's house was definitely one of those houses that stood out, their house was painted a light gray rather than white and they didn't have a visible chimney like the other houses.
Cassie pulled a bag out of the trunk while the taxi pulled out the rest of the bags and after we paid him, he took off, "Yup." she looked around, "this is the hell hole I was forced to grow up in," she looked up, "and you see that window," she pointed, I nodded, "that's my room and that tree is famous for Chris' sneakouts." she finished nodding towards the thick big tree next to the window.
I nodded, "ready to get this over with?" I looked at her. I couldn't even begin to explain how she could be feeling. This must have been such a nostalgic feeling for her, "are you okay?" I asked when I noticed she wasn't responding and just stared at the house.
She nodded, "I just never thought I'd see this place again." she sighed. "When Derek kidnapped us, I was pretty sure I was never coming home." I glanced at her and saw that she wiped a tear away.
I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her to me, "I can't imagine how you must be feeling." I whispered to her.
Cassie wrapped her arms around my waist and buried "I wished Chris was home with me." She said quietly.
The way she talked about Chris only wanted me to hug her tighter which I did, "Chris will always be with you." I kissed the top of her forehead. She pulled away and wiped the tears from her face.
She puffed and pulled a smile to appear on her face. "I'm good. I'm good." She tried to convince, but I didn't believe her.
We walked up the brick pavement and stood in front of the door, "it's now or never." I said and heard her scoff before she opened the door.
We walked in with Cassie in from leading the way, "Cassie!" A blonde girl a couple years younger exclaimed running towards us and hugged Cassie. I smiled at the sight and closed the front. She must've been Megan.
"Where?" I heard an older female voice yell. She turned from around the corner and stormed towards us not looking too happy. Guessing that was Lorraine.
Megan stood in front of us with both her hands up, "Mom, it's okay she's home." Megan tried to calm.
Lorraine stopped in front of Megan since she was in her way. "Move," she ordered and Megan did as she was told. Lorraine stood in front of Cassie and smiled mischievously before colliding her hand against Cassie's face hard. Gasps were heard all around, "How dare you come back after running away." Lorraine scolded Cassie. "You ungrateful human being." She insulted.
I tried to pull Cassie behind me, but she stopped me. "I just came to grab my things." Cassie insisted, her mom just glared at her.
"Here you go." A muscular guy with dirty blonde hair pulled out her stuff from a closet. That must've been Cody. He came closer to Cassie, "And Cassie if you're ever looking for a good time, you know where to find-"
