CASSIE'S POV

To think it's been this long since I've talked about Chris was crazy and something I couldn't believe it was something I had to get used to.

"Good Morning." Drew walked out of the bedroom and sat the kitchen table, I smiled in return, "everything okay?" he questioned, I could feel him staring at me.

I turned to him, "how do you do it?" I sighed exhaustedly. How was he able to move on so quickly?

"Do what?" He chuckled before he yawned.

I walked at the other end of the kitchen table, "how are you able to move on from losing Derek so quickly?" His eyes darkened, I think I brought up a topic he didn't want to discuss.

"Easy," he stood, "I'm used to being alone." He walked behind me to get a glass of orange juice.

I thought about what he said. I was alone too, but I still wasn't able to move on. Then again, I always had Chris.

"What you're going through is normal Cassie." Drew mentioned. "People handle death differently." He added.

He was right people are different, but I wanted to be like him and move on quickly.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Knock, knock, knock

Drew and I were watching a movie when someone knocked on the door. Don't you just hate interruptions during the best part of the movie? Since I was practically laying on Drew's chest, I was the one that had to answer the door.

I annoyingly and tiredly got off the couch and dragged myself towards the door. "Ms. Kylie?" I said surprisingly. My eyes widened and I haven't seen her in a while. "What are you doing here?" I asked .

She looked like she was about to burst with emotions, "I need to talk to you." She welcomed herself in. I saw Drew jumped up and sat on the couch, and cleaned up a bit.

I watched as Ms.Kylie sat on the couch as Drew and I sat on the adjacent couch. "What's wrong?" I asked.

Ms. Kylie pulled a folder out of her bag, "I know even though your emancipated, you don't need me," she paused, "but I'm here as your friend." She stated. The tone in her voice made it seem like I should be worried.

I felt my body tense up, "What's wrong." I retorted knowing that whatever she had to say was important.

I notice Ms.Kylie tensing up as well, "I don't know how to say it, so I'm just going to spit it out," she paused. I held an anxious look upon my face, "They found your parent's killer."

I inhaled a large amount of air before my head turned to Drew who had a concerned expression on his, I took his hand and squeezed it. "W-what?" I stuttered nervously as I thought that it could be a normal reaction.

Drew sat up straight and squeezed my hand tight, "who is it?" He asked curiously and I think he was hoping they didn't know it was him.

"His name is,"Ms.Kylie flipped open the folder and looked over the file, "Derek Andino." she pursed her lips and closed the folder.

I dropped every thought that was going through my mind right now.

"Derek." Drew trailed.

"Andino?" I added.

Ms.Kylie handed me the folder and I reviewed it, "his fingerprints matched the one on the fireworks that killed your parents." She explained and I read the paper work that explained everything.

I looked at Drew, he shook his head deniably and his face expression was angry and confused. Not a good combination.

"Excuse me." Drew excused himself as he got up and went outside on the balcony.

"He was the son-" I cut Ms.Kylie off.

"Of the family that lived across from us." I finished for her. "I knew him." A tear fell from my face. Ms.Kylie nodded slightly.

Ms.Kylie rubbed my knee, "there's two more things." I looked up at her wondering what else she could possibly say.

She looked in my eyes, "Cassandra," she paused, "Derek was found dead." My mind immediately followed back to the night of the incident.

To make Ms.Kylie believe that I didn't know anything, I looked at her with widened and saddened eyes. "You said two more things?" I asked.

She nodded, "Cassie, Chris was also found dead." I looked up at her and as tears start to flood my eyes. This was finally my chance to cry. "We have evidence to believe it was a drug deal gone wrong." She stated. I cried some more to know that Chris has left this life with the reputation of doing drugs. As much I wanted to tell her she was wrong, I couldn't. I had to deal with the fact that they were going to assume my best friend did drugs. "I'm so sorry Cassandra." Ms.Kylie hugged me sincerely.

"Thanks." I told her, "But I think I want to be alone right now." I looked into her apologetic eyes. She nodded and gathered her things before she left.

AS soon as the door was shut, I went straight to the balcony to pull Drew back in here, "what the hell was that all about!" I said rhetorically not expecting an actual answer in return. Drew came in and shut the balcony, "what does she mean Derek was the killer?" I asked him even though I knew he didn't know the answer.

"They must be wrong." Derek denied. "Derek told us what happened." He convinced to himself.

We were both confused at the moment and we didn't know how to react. "He probably lied." I told him, "again." I added.

Drew shook his head, "we don't know that." He stated. Drew wanted to protect his brother even though he was already dead.

I looked him in the eyes, his eyes became dark and gloomy, "well it's what I want to believe." I stated as I began to walk away.

Drew grabbed my arm, "we just need someone who knows what could've happened." he said. I guess he was right, we didn't know the exact truth. We needed a third opinion.

I crossed my arms to think of someone who could possibly know what could have happened. "I think I know someone." The people in my mind were people I wasn't sure how Drew would react to them.

"Who?"

"Your parents." Drew looked at me like I was crazy, "they're your parents," I paused, "maybe they know what happened that night." I explained, but Drew shook his head, "don't you care that maybe you didn't kill my parents," I stated, "you wouldn't have to live with this guilt anymore." I stated.

Drew looked at me, "fine, we can go tomorrow." Was all he said before he left the apartment.

I can't wait to see how this will turn out.

Plot Twist!! The real question now is: Who really killed Cassie's parents? Who is the real killer?

I'm somewhat going to be rushing the ending since it's already 30+ chapters and I don't want this to exceed chapter 40, so I hope although it seems rushed, it still makes sense.

The book trailer is here and is on top.^^ I hope you can watch it on your mobile device. I hope you enjoy it as well of course!
