Drew's POV
I watched as my brother bled to death. I watched him kill himself, not to mention Chris saved my life when my brother was about to kill me. All I could think about was how I could let this happen. I fall helplessly to my knees and just keeled there regretting the past happenings.
I looked down at Chris' lifeless body with Cassie hunched over him sobbing. "The promise." I remembered Chris saying, I had to think of something a plan to keep not only myself safe, but Cassie also. The least I could do for Chris was honor and keep our promise.
I pushed away every irrational thought in my head and focused on what had to happen, "Cassie," I started, "we need to leave." I told her.
She looked up at me with tears running from her face, "we can't just leave him." She cried.
"Cassie I know." I said, "I don't want to leave my brother, but staying here will just drag us into the investigation and besides its pointless to stay." I rationalized. She agreed crying and then kissed Chris on the forehead before we both got up and ran back to the house.
The sun was starting to rise and I wanted to be out of here before daylight. Once back inside the house, I ran to my room and packed a quick bag.
"Here. Put it on. It should cover the blood." I threw a gray hoodie at her when I noticed the obvious blood stains on her shirt. Once we had everything we headed towards Derek's car. "You okay?" I asked Cassie who seemed to be very quiet. I guess it was okay since her best friend died.
"Where are we going?" She answered with a another question.
"Anywhere but here." I retorted. I didn't care where we were going as long as it was far from here.
A couple months back, I had managed to convince Derek to let me get my license and I had gotten it without even practicing. I held the door opened for Cassie, she hesitantly got in and I couldn't blame her after everything she's been through. I gave her my bag before she placed it on the ground next to her feet.
I didn't know where I was driving since I didn't know the area too good, but Cassie helped me figure it out. Not wanting to waste the gas that was already in the tank, I pulled into an empty parking lot under a light post. Cassie may have helped me figure out where to go, she was still quiet and I couldn't blame her.
I turned my body towards her, her face looking straight ahead, lost in thought, "how ya holding up?" I felt the need to check up on her because of the traumatizing event we both witnessed.
"I know where we can go," she turned her head towards me. Am I supposed to take that as a 'she's fine'. I looked at her questioning her idea. She didn't tell me where exactly we were going, she just told me where to go.
We ended up at a hotel that I've never seen before. Why were we here. Once I parked the car, we both walked towards the front entrance while a doorman held it open as we walked through the doors. This place was nice, but not nice enough to call itself a five star hotel. "This is where Chris and I stayed," Cassie informed, "wait over there," she added pointing to an empty couch as she walked to the front desk.
It didn't take long for her to come back with a room key. When we opened the designated room that belonged to the key, we entered a room, there were things still in here that had me guessing that this was Cassie and Chris' room. I looked at her and she cried silently, it must have been the memories of Chris and the fact that his stuff was in here. I felt so bad for her because clearly she was having a hard time dealing with grief.
