The boats were fast on track for the castle, they were due to arrive by sunrise the next morning . Autumn lay fast asleep in her bed, Hope and Daniel shared a cabin with her they were hammocks across the room from her. Autumn was sleeping rough a lot ever since she left Lara, ever since she kissed Aggie and whatever that meant, ever since she had to look Lara in the eye and leave. Autumn lay awake listening to the rain tap, tap, tap, tapping at her window.
The rain kept her awake, she watched Hope peacefully sleeping with Merlin everything was perfect for her, perfect boyfriend, great friends and pure joy she just radiated, pure joy. Autumn felt a little sad sometimes even a little bitter and jealous she was human of course but the feeling wouldn't last long she was so grateful to have Hope and couldn't imagine her life without her.
She wasn't like Lara, Lara was like a bomb going off, hitting her in the face changing her life sweeping her off her feet and turning her life upside down but ultimately changing her life for the better at least she believed that at one point. But Hope, Hope wasn't like a bomb more like a ship slowly sailing into the harbour on a moonlit lake, ultimately reaching its destination. She changed Autumn's life for the better. Autumn had had friends before but not like Hope, Autumn cared for Hope deeply she was felt a love for Hope, a caring platonic love. She'd felt apprehensive about Daniel at first but eventually when she saw Hope was happy with Daniel she learned to trust him. She didn't care that Lara didn't love her, she didn't care that her life was a mess in so many ways, Hope was happy and for a moment that kept the thoughts of how horrible things had been away. Autumn was never much of a people person but neither was Hope they were made in the stars of universe to be best friends.
Suddenly Autumn heard screams and cries from above deck, Autumn leapt out of bed grabbing her sword, her hat and pelting up to the top deck. When she got there everyone was in utter panic, a storm a hit the mast and broken through half the ship people frantically grabby people from within the rubble, others jumping overboard. The atmosphere was filled with screams and the howls of the wind. Autumn didn't hesitate to run to the edge of the ship, barley grasping the wooden beams, Autumn called out to the sea, calling to the mermaids within seconds they all arrived dragging the men and women off towards land. Hope, Daniel and Merlin all ran up onto the deck.
"go! go!" Aggie yelled
"we need a broom" Hope yelled. Those still on the ship started looking for a broom eventually one was found they threw it to Hope.
"you go, Aggie and I we'll find you" Daniel said before kissing Hope goodbye.
"No I'm staying" Autumn said
"Don't be stupid we have to go" Hope said
"She's right, Lara needs you" Aggie said hurting a little. Against her better judgement Autumn kissed Aggie goodbye and hopped onto the broom. Daniel stayed on the ship waving goodbye as he frantically helped those trapped in the hole left by the broken mast. Autumn didn't dare look back she knew if she did that she'd stay and Lara would certainly die.
Autumn and Hope arrived just before dawn they walked into the town, Hope spotted a potion store and dragged Autumn down the alleyway. The shop had a lot of the same ingredients as Hopes potions store. Hope bought some items and began to brew in the corner of the shop. She brewed the potion until it turned a vivid shade of blood red. Hope dipped her hand into the mixture and smothered her face in it, suddenly her face started to change. Her eyes turned a pale, ocean blue her hair grew long, wavy and became blonde, lips and cheeks became pinkish and face shape changed to be sharper and her cheekbones grew to be more visible in her face. Her skin became paler.
Autumn's mouth fell open in shock
"you okay?" Hope familiar voice said
"wow, that was- you look" Autumn said amazed
"so it worked then, your turn" Hope said. Autumn dipped her shaking hand in to the mixture she rubbed the liquid over her face, she felt her face and hair begin to tingle until finally the sensation ceased.
"wow, this really does work" Hope said
"can i see" Autumn asked
"no time, come on" Hope said grabbing Autumn's wrist and pulling her away leaving her potion to brew in the back of the shop.
