Chapter 3 The past

That night Autumn dreamt of her life when she still lived in Urbe, about her and Hope going to the  bookshop just on the corner of the road. Hope would always buy a spell or potion book something with a name like 'Love potions and enchanting elixirs ' or 'healing 101' and Autumn -being hopelessly romantic teenager she was -would buy romance novels all of them made Autumn dream about the life she wish she had. It was always the princess getting the prince of the two lesbian pirates who ran away from their village girl lives to venture the seven seas.

Then her and Hope would spend hours in the shop snuggled in the corner of the window ,reading. It was so peaceful and quite, it was just perfect. Well almost perfect Autumn still dreamt of life with love, of her and a girl or boy spending hours doing the cute couple things that people in her books did. Autumn had dated only one girl and it hadn't lasted long, she was nice but she had broken it off to purse some dream in the city of Fari and Autumn wasn't keen to go back so things ended soon after.

One day a girl walked into the shop she had redish ombré hair that was cut in a messy yet cool fashion. That lay down just below her shoulders. She wore a loose top with a corset round the waist and a short, brown, leather skirt she also wore a black and red cloak that hung of her shoulders and neck. Upon seeing this girl Autumn was rather taken a back she had never seen anyone like this before. She was just like the people Autumn read about in every detail she was perfect. The girl looked over to Autumn and Hope sitting in the corner. "Hi" she said in her cool, uncaring voice.

"Hi nice to meet you" Hope said
"Your friend okay?"
"she just thinks you look cool, she's a bit of a nerd"
Autumn shoved Hope in the side, "ow" she said

The girl smirked "we'll nerd suppose you could help me find an Atlas?" Lara asked still cool and uncaring". Hope nudged Autumn in the shoulder which annoyed her at first but she followed Lara like a dog with its owner.

"um-um y-yeah s-s-sure" Autumn said in the most nervous voice ever "Um map's, yeah" Autumn said rushing off toward the map section. "What are you looking for a map of" asked Autumn

"Fari and Urbe" Lara said

"right yeah, sure" Autumn said still speaking nervously her hands shaking in her pockets. Autumn - hands still shaking - pulled a book from the shelf "here" Autumn handed Lara the book.

"thanks" Lara said walking off "do you like tea? like fruit tea" Lara said turning back towards Autumn

"yeah love it" Autumn said

"cool, i'll see you at six?" Lara said walking away.
"Sure I'd like to meet up" Autumn said
"It's a date " Lara said
Autumn ran off back towards Hope.

"she asked me out" Autumn said jumping up and down

"really?" Hope said excited for her friend

"yeah really, tonight at six" Autumn said heavily breathing with excitement

"come on then you gotta get changed and ready and its already four thirty" Hope said pulling Autumn out of the book shop, Hope beckoned her broom and the two of the rushed back to their house.

Autumn and Hope arrived back at their home, Autumn changed into a short, floral dress she owned.Hope wished her good luck and hugged her goodbye.

When Autumn got to the shop Lara waved to her. The two of them ordered tea and chatted for hours about things like how nice the bookshop was and jobs - Autumn worked as an assistant in the bookshop in the week- and how life was so boring ,well this was all Autumn she could talk for years if she wanted. Then Lara told Autumn about how she was a dealer trading goods although who for she never mentioned and how she was looking for the map because she was in search of the other half to her prize collection piece, whatever that was. By the time the shop was closing they were the only ones left in there. Autumn then walked Lara back to her house which was a nice cottage on the outskirts of town. The street was completely silent and dimly lit by street lamps, the two of them walked down the cobbled street holding hands and just enjoying each others company.
