Toni
"What the hell?!" Janet stood up as Tommy explained what happened. "She said what about my baby?"

"She said that she was stupid."

"She also made her stand up in front kf the class to finish problems and when she couldn't, she embarrassed her." said Lia. Janet turned red. I pulled my phone out and canceled our trip plans. I knew where this was going.

"Tommy, go get.." Tommy handed her purse to her and grabbed the car keys. "Toni, let's go. Girls, to the car. Let's go." We all went to the garage. Janet got in the driver's seat of her truck and we all piled in. Before we all had a chance to get strapped in good, Janet pulled off. Why does she only drive this truck when she's mad?

She drove away from the house and out of our neighborhood. "Tell me more about what she said." Janet said.

"Well, from what I heard, when Miyah couldn't finish the problems, she said she wasn't surprised then said she's always twiddling her fingers and that's why she had a D." said Tommy.

"Hmmm, okay. And Lia, how often does she pick on Miyah?"

"All the time. It started slowly after the first week of school. She was nice then got mean, but she's the worst to Miyah."

"Why do you think that?" Lia held her head down.

"Ummm..."

"Speak up!"

"Miyah's gay." Janet stopped at the red light and turned around.

"What?!"

"Yeah, she's mean to her, Lolade, and Derek. They're all the ones who are known to be gay. I think she's mean to me because of who you are and that's why she's the worst to Miyah, because it's a double whammy." Janet's face turned a red that I thought she'd pop.

"Okay. Okay." The line turned green and she sped off. She zoomed through the streets and lanes like it was nothing before pulling into the school parking lot. We all got out and she marched up to the school. She rang the doorbell and waited to be buzzed in. When she was, she went into the front office.

"Good morning Mrs,..."

"I need to see Ms. Richards." The secretary's smile faded.

"Is something wrong?"

"Yes, I'd like to see Ms. Richards."

"Okay." She handed Janet the sign-in book and gave all of us passes.

"Thank you." Janet marched off and as we left out, I saw the secretary run to the principal's office in a panic. We passed classrooms, students and teachers who all moved out of her way as she walked towards the stairs. When she got up there, she went to the classroom and walked in without knocking.

"Excuse me." Ms. Richards apoke before turning around. "Please knock before entering my...." She turned around and stopped talking. She quickly smiled. "Mrs. and Mrs. Braxton, how nice to..."

"Cut that. Don't play nice to me. I want to speak with you about how you treat my daughters."

"What do you speak of?"

"I speak of what my son heard from you, and what my daughters witnessed from you."

"Mrs. Braxton, you can't take children's words for true all the time. Their perception..."

"Please say that again so I have another reason to hurt you." Ms. Richards got quiet. "How dare you force my daughter to stand up in front of the class and embarrass her like that, then have the nerve to call her stupid and cause her to cry?"
