Christmas was two days ago and everyone was still on a high from all of the festivities. Toni had gotten me some beautiful gifts from a few of my favorite stores, but the best gift was her showing me the finished renovations for the house by the lake. It was so beautiful and I couldn't wait to spend vacations there. All the kids had gotten great gifts and were very happy with them. They had been on cloud nine ever since. Except for Tommy and Miyah. They had been in kind of a funk for the past few days. For Tommy, I knew why. He and Grace had broken up and sadly we were very right about her. She had lied about not being in contact with her son's father. When Tommy went to end things, they were hugged up on her mother's living room couch. Turns out they had been on and off for a while and she had been sleeping with him. It broke Tommy's heart.
For Miyah, I didn't know what had happened and Lia wouldn't tell me. All I knew is, Miyah isolated herself from everyone and wouldn't talk but she did cry. I caught her crying a lot, but she wouldn't tell me why. I wasn't going to push because her business is her business, but my baby was hurt and I wanted to help her through it.
I got out of my bed and made my way to her room. She had gone in there hours ago and had yet to come out. Waddling to her door, I knocked. "Yes." She answered quietly.
"It's mommy. Can I come in?"
"Sure." I opened the door and all of the lights were off. Her room was a mess and she was laying in her bed, facing the wall. She was clearly depressed.
"Baby, what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"It doesn't seem like nothing. I'm really worried about you." I made my way over to her bed.
"It's nothing mom. Really."
"Sweetie, don't hold things in. It's not healthy." She sniffled.
"I don't want to talk about it." I stood by her bed.
"Well, do you want a hug?" She nodded. I sat down and moved back against her headboard. She turned over and moved up to my chest. I held her as she laid there. I felt her body shake as she cried. I wanted to ask again, but I knew better than to push. "I'm so sorry, baby. I don't know what's wrong, but I'm sorry." She cried harder.
"Lolade is leaving." Her voice shook.
"What?"
"Her father is moving her back to Nigeria because there's this boy they've arranged for her to marry when she's older." My heart broke for her.
"Awww, baby." She sat up and looked at me. Her eyes were red and puffy. She had tear stains all over her face and her hair was disheveled. My baby was truly heartbroken.
"I don't want her to leave, mom. I really lo....I don't want her to leave." I knew my baby was in love but she wasn't going to say it to me and that was fine. "What am I going to do?" I sighed.
"This is one I can't answer for you, baby." She cried more. "Come here." She said her head on my shoulder.
"Mommy, it's not fair."
"I know." Her fires died down a little.
"I kissed her. We kissed."
"You did!"
"Yeah, we were going to wait until we were older to kiss and date but I felt too much so I kissed her."
"And how did you feel?"
"I can't tell you."
"Why?"
"Because you'll say I'm too young."
