Toni
"Toni." I internally groaned. "Toni." I didn't want to get up. "Toni." She whined. I really didn't want to get up. "Daddy."

"What's up, baby?" I sat up.

"I'm hungry, but I can't get up." She looked at me. Not long after we got home and everything happened with the kids, Janet was out on bed rest. Her stress levels were too high and they were worried about her blood pressure. So she had been here for two months. "Please, baby." I looked at the clock.

"Baby, it's two in the morning. You should be asleep."

"I know, but I'm hungry." She whined. This is where the kids get it from. "Please. Please."

"Fine." I got up and put a shirt and some shoes on. I grabbed my wallet and keys. "What do you want?" She stayed quiet. "Janet, please tell me you know what you want."

"I don't know." I rubbed my face. "But I'm hungry." I sighed and sat down.

"Then what do you want? Do you want chicken?"

"No."

"A burger?"

"No."

"Pasta?"

"No."

"A sub sandwich?" She thought for a second.

"No."

"Uhhh....seafood?"

"No. Ohhh...you know what I want?"

"What?"

"Chicken." I wanted to get upset but I stayed calm.

"Okay, sweetie. Where do you want it from?" She stayed quiet again.

"I don't know." I sighed. "I'm sorry."

"No, it's fine. It's just been a while since we've had to do this."

"Umm..."

"You want me to see if Mama made chicken?"

"Ohh yeah...see if she made some and if I can have some."

"Okay." I pulled out my phone and dialed my mom's number.

"Hello. Is everything okay? Is Janet okay? Is the baby okay?" Her voice got frantic.

"Yeah, everything's fine. Did you make any chicken?" She sighed in relief.

"Yeah, why?"

"Janet's hungry for chicken."

"Okay, I'll get a plate ready for her." I heard her moving around.

"Where you going, baby?" My stepdad had woken up.

"I'm going to make a plate for Janet. She's craving chicken."

"I got it. You lay back down."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I got it."

"Okay." I heard her sit back down. "Toni, your dad's going to get the food ready."

"Alright, I'll be over soon."

"Love you. Tell Janet I said love her too."

"Alright, love you. Bye." I hung up and turned to Janet.
"Dad is getting a plate together for you. I'm going to go get it."

"Okay, baby. Thank you so much." I bent down and gave her a peck in her lips.

"Anything for you, baby. I'll be back."
