Chapter 72: Scorch Marks

Alicia's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes. I was starting to think that my phone glitched or something. But then, looking back at how fast she ran off, it seemed possible. But still, doing what would probably be a seven minute run in forty seconds, just, wow.

Despite my own eyes seeing the proof, my brain was failing to comprehend it. But, then again, this happens pretty much every single time I witness her using a new power. It makes me wonder how much power resides within her. I've already lost count of how many powers she has discovered.

Once everyone stopped gawking at my phone, Slenderman started to lead us all back inside; much to everyone's relief. February nights aren't exactly the nicest.

Warmth engulfed us as we made it inside. I'm pretty sure I even heard a relieved sigh come from Y/N. I, too, let out a quiet, relieved sigh.

On our way back to the training room, I walked up beside Y/N. "Hey, I don't think you noticed, but when you used your earth power, the hair on the left side of your head turned green." I informed her.

"I'm not too surprised. Each power seems to have its own color. I wonder what color my hearing ability has. That is, if I actually have that power. I'm not too sure, since the experience was so brief." Y/N said.

We made our way back to the usual training room. Y/N made her way to the center of it as usual. I found my spot between Puppeteer and Slenderman.

Once everyone was settled, Slenderman spoke. "Now, I would really like to see if you have advanced hearing. Could you try to manifest that power?"

Y/N nodded and closed her eyes. Slenderman turned towards BEN and started speaking again. "BEN, could you move a few rooms over, say something, anything at all, then come back?"

BEN nodded and left to do just that. I looked back towards Y/N. She still had her eyes closed. I think this is part of her process to manifest a new power.

After a few seconds, from behind her hair, I could see the space around her ears glowing a light lime color. I guess that's the color that goes with advanced hearing.

Everybody stayed quiet and waited patiently for BEN to come back. Y/N still had her eyes closed. She was probably doing that to keep her attention on her sense of hearing. I saw her smile a bit and stifle a giggle, like she just heard a joke.

About a minute later, BEN walked back into the room and Y/N deactivated her power. Slenderman faced Y/N. "Did you hear what BEN said in the other room?"

Y/N smiled and nodded.

"What did he say?" Slenderman asked.

"He said that Jeff was jealous of my powers." she said with a smirk on her face.

I heard Jeff growl as Slenderman turned towards BEN, silently asking if that was what he said. BEN nodded, a small smirk on his face as well.

A couple of people in the room chuckled. I, too, let out a little giggle. I looked over at BEN to see him looking proud of himself while Jeff, who was standing next to him, looked like he was debating whether or not to murder BEN right then and there.

"Alright, let's take a short break." Slenderman said.

Y/N took off her hoodie and moved over to a wall to sit down. I followed her and took a seat next to her. "Looks like your hearing ability has the color of lime green." I said.

Y/N looked at me. "Really? What did you see? Did my ears turn lime green or something?" she asked.

"Nope, the space around your ears turned lime green." I stated.
