Y/N's POV
"Oh, wait, I need to do something quick before we start." I said. I then whispered into her ear. "BEN."
She understood and nodded. I walked out to the hallway and took out my phone. I looked around to see if anyone else was there. I didn't see anyone, so I called out to BEN. "Hey BEN?"
His face appeared on the screen. "Yes?"
"Could you tell Clockwork that I'm still at the college with Alicia?" I asked.
"Sure thing." he said. I assumed that he left, so I went back into the lab with Alicia.
"You ready now?" Alicia asked as I approached her.
I nodded. I turned on Alicia's phone and got it ready to film. "Whenever you're ready." I said.
"Point the camera onto the bowl we're making it in." she said. I did as instructed, waiting for her to start.
"You can start recording."
I started to record. She turned on the faucet at our station and put about a cup of water into the bowl. She turned off the faucet, then pulled out a small container of cornstarch. She added two cups of cornstarch into the water. She then started to mix the ingredients together.
I made sure to keep the camera focused on the bowl as I watched on in mild interest. After a while, the product started to act weird. It looked like a liquid, but if you added pressure to it, it acted like a solid.
Just then, it clicked. I remember making something like this with Alicia when we were about eight years old. The only difference was that back then, we added some blue food coloring into it before we started mixing it. What was this stuff called?
Alicia's voice broke me away from my thoughts. "Remember making this as a kid?" she asked.
I nodded, still keeping the camera focused on the bowl. "I do, but I can't remember what it's called..." I trailed off.
"Oobleck." Alicia stated.
I smiled. "Oobleck! That's what it's called." I exclaimed, happy that I didn't have to wrack my brain for the answer.
While she was messing around with the oobleck to show off it's strange properties, a couple of the students started arguing about which chemical they needed to add into whatever solution they were trying to make. I glanced towards their direction before glancing at Alicia. "Don't worry about it. I'll be muting the audio and recording my own voice over the video." Alicia stated while she kept messing around with the oobleck.
Right when we were about to end the video, we heard one of the students yell out. "Wait no!"
Just then, a loud booming sound was heard and I was knocked over by the force of whatever was going on. Everything turned white before I hit my head and blacked out.
After what I assumed was a very short time later, I opened my eyes to see that much of the room was burning up. My hearing came back and I heard the fire alarm going off. The room felt really hot, for obvious reasons. I looked next to me to see Alicia starting to regain consciousness.
I stood up to get a better look at the room. The other students were still knocked out, some already had nasty burns on them. Once Alicia fully regained consciousness, she started freaking out. I, too, was starting to freak out. There were massive flames by both exits of the room. I started freaking out more when flames were getting closer to where a lot of the chemicals were held. There's no telling what would happen if the flames made it to the chemicals.
I knew that we had to leave soon, but I just couldn't leave the other students behind. There wouldn't be enough time to get everyone else out in time. Alicia managed to get up next to me. I examined her, not seeing any major wounds. "Y/N, we need to find a way out of here!" she urged. It was then that she actually tried looking for an exit that wasn't blocked by giant flames. Not seeing any, she started breathing heavily, coughing when she inhaled smoke.
