Chapter 16

Monday March 27 2023

Im starting to doubt John and Emma are still dating. I rarely see them talking anymore. Hmmmmm. Anyway. Today I actually talked to Aiden a lot. So, he wasn't at school for two days, but he was back today. Anyway, up until lunch recess I talked to him a bit because he was at my table talking to someone else. Yeah. At lunch recess, 5 of the 7 boys were at indoor soccer practice. I'm too lazy to explain why I didn't try out. Aiden just happened to be one of the two that didn't go. Soooo, he ended up hanging out with me, Emma, Sky, Amelia, and Maya. We all were just talking and stuff. It was actually kind of fun. I also learned that he had plans to go to the nearby plaza this Thursday. Apparently him and his friends go every Thursday, and he was inviting us all. I said yes because I wasn't doing anything that day anyway. I have one more detail. So, Aiden was making jokes after recess about how he was selling avocados. I said that I'll take one as a joke. Yeah. And then he said that he was actually going to buy me that avocado. He told me that he would charge me the price of an avocado at the grocery store, plus an extra 25 cents for 'shipping'. He also said that he would text me the price after school. Fast forward to after school, as soon as I got out of swim practice, I checked my texts, and what do you know? There's a text from Aiden! He said that my avocado was $2.75. Now I owe him money. Great. He also made me text everyone else who he got stuff (Sky, Emma, Linda, Laurie) instead of texting them himself because he knew that I had all their numbers/emails. I kind of felt like his secretary or something. Yeah. Then we just texted about whether avocados needed to be refrigerated. Then Maya texted me to finalize plans about going to the plaza. She lives really close to me, so we agreed to walk together. Then Aiden texted me again to ask if I was going. That's about it, but tomorrow I might have more info or something. Also it's really late and I need to sleep.

Wednesday March 29 2023

Today I walked with Aiden. It was okay other than the fact it started freaking SNOWING not even an hour before school ended. I walked outside at the end of the day with my jacket unzipped and my hood down. Not even a minute later, I did up my jacket and put my hood on. It was really cold and windy. Emma did the same thing. Aiden was with us like always. He actually had an umbrella and was holding it in front of all three of us. Then Emma flat out said "I don't need it". Yeah. So then AIDEN AND I SHARED IT. Awkward. We were kind of just chatting while he held the umbrella. While we were walking, Emma just randomly asked him if he likes Amelia. He said no, so I attempted to pretend I didn't know anything. I know that he doesn't like Amelia. Then we stopped at our normal spot where we stop and talk for a bit. My hands were getting so cold that they were turning red. Aiden noticed and offered me his gloves. I refused the gloves because I knew he needed them. Plus, I always forget gloves, so using someone else's won't teach me to remember to bring my own. Aiden was insisting that I take his gloves, but I still refused. Then Emma whispered something in his ear, which I couldn't hear. However, I had a pretty good guess, since right after, Aiden blurted out "I don't like Evelyn!"  Emma probably thought he was trying to make some sort of move on me. She has weird ideas sometimes. Then Emma went home. So then Aiden and I continued walking and he still held the umbrella between us. We were standing really close together, which made me slightly uncomfortable. His new go-to conversation topic is about John and Emma. He was asking me if I thought they were going to go on a date to a restaurant or something. Then he said maybe they'd go bowling. I was kinda like "Well, bowling might be better for a double date" He definitely took that the wrong way. Because after, he was like "What did you mean by double date?" He totally got the wrong hint. I just said that wasn't what I meant and that I was "Just saying if one of her friends got a boyfriend or something, then they could go bowling for a double date because bowling is depressing with two people" I can't believe he actually thought what I thought he would think (makes zero sense, I know). We mostly just talked about random stuff and then I decided to mention about my chart that I made when he gave me the two hints about who he likes. He asked to see the chart so I showed him, then he asked if I could send it to him. I said I'd do it later. By this time, the snow and wind stopped so I was less cold and Aiden wasn't holding the umbrella anymore. Yeah. Then he had to show me how to get out of his street again (I need to learn how to find my way back from his house now). Just before I left, he said that he might give me another hint tomorrow. I just remembered I'm going to the plaza with him and his friends. Anyway so he said that he might give me another hint. That gave me a reason to go tomorrow, I guess. Maya texted me and reassured me that "it would be fun" so now I kind of have to go. Also, John  is going and Emma isn't. Kind of shocking since Emma was invited too.
