Wednesday May 10 2023

I wasn't joking when I said I would be depressed for a while. I even took a break from writing because I didn't feel like doing it.

Basically, Aiden has been avoiding me every Wednesday now, and I told Emma everything that happened. I knew I couldn't keep it a secret forever, so I told her at recess. She also told me some stuff that happened with her and John a while ago that she didn't tell me. She had been keeping it from me this whole time, which I was angry about, but I was glad she finally told me. She was convinced that Aiden liked Maya. Convinced to the point she didn't even believe that I dated him or that he liked me.

I ALSO MADE THE SCHOOL SOCCER TEAM!!!!!!!!

AGAIN.

Yes, I'm on the team again. We have a tournament for three days next week. I get to skip school. Yay!

Anyway, that's about all that's happened in the past month or so that I didn't write. Now into what happened today.

Emma and John had another park date today. I knew that I was going to feel like a third wheel again. Somehow, Aiden had found out about their date. That meant he might stay at the park, which would be kinda awkward.

Once the day ended, Emma and I walked across the field onto the path to get to the park. Then she turned around was like "Where's John?" We saw Aiden further down the trail. I was kind of praying he wouldn't go with us. Soon, John came up behind us and we started walking. Then we were joined by Aiden. I was kind of awkward but also kind of glad because that meant I wasn't a third wheel.

It was technically a double date.

Except for the fact Aiden and I aren't dating anymore.

While we were walking, Emma and I found a hill that looked fun to cartwheel down. The only problem was, there were two guys with us and we were both in skirts. We literally made them both turn around while we did cartwheels. They basically had to look at the trees and stuff. It was worth it, that hill was fun to cartwheel down.

Then we went to the park and put out bags down on some rocks near the splash pad. It's become the spot where the four of us sit when we all hang out. I sat next to Emma, who sat next to John, who sat next to Aiden. At one point, Aiden just took his stuff and was like "I'm leaving". It hadn't even been 5 minutes. I actually thought he was leaving because he wanted to avoid me. It made sense. He literally hasn't talked to me since we broke up. Then we saw that he just pretended to leave and was hiding behind a tree, which was right in front of us. Yeah. The three of us pretended that he was gone and went on about how we were going to talk about "Secret stuff". It was just a joke.

Eventually, Aiden came  back and we just talked about random stuff. It was more Emma and I talking about stuff, and Aiden and John talking about stuff. I felt kind of bad for Emma because I knew that she wanted to talk to her boyfriend. It was fine though. I also realized that sometime in the future I'll look back and laugh at the fact I ever liked Aiden. That sounds fun. Yeah so there wasn't a lot of interaction. Soon, Emma and John went to walk home together. I knew Emma really wanted to be alone with him. That meant I was alone at the park with Aiden. He started asking me about why I thought he was avoiding me. For context, I texted him maybe a week or two ago asking if he was avoiding me. Then we looked over at Emma and John, and they were LOOKING AT US! I could see that Emma had made some sort of comment. Then Aiden got this idea to follow Emma and John. We just got up and very casually walked over to them. Very slowly. We occasionally dove behind trees and stuff. We were pretty sure they didn't notice us. Once they turned a corner, we went to the corner and followed them.

We eventually made it right behind them. Finally, they noticed we were behind them. It was really funny. Then we just kept following them, but we were dead silent. It was funny. I could tell from their reactions that they really wanted to be alone. Hehe. Then we got to the spot where they apparently split up. Aiden went with John and I went with Emma. Obviously, she got mad at me because she wanted to be alone with John. My really bad excuse was "It was Aiden's idea". Really bad excuse, I know. Then we got to her house, so we said bye. The street Emma and John live on is a huge circle, meaning I could potentially run into Aiden. I put my earbuds in and started walking. I tried to be kind of quick because I was hoping I wouldn't run into Aiden. As I got to the public school near the park, I saw Aiden. I immediately took out my phone and pretended to be really distracted. Then he said hi to me. Then I was like "Of all people I could run into, it has to be you". Then I just followed him home because I had nothing to do anyway.

We ended up at his house, obviously. Because I got lost last time, he ended up walking me to the corner and then asked if I wanted him to just point me in the right direction, or if I wanted "a personal escort", as he called it. Complicated decision. I could have said to just point me in the right direction and leave the awkwardness, but that would risk me getting lost again, or I could say to "escort" me which sounds really weird but at least I wouldn't get lost.  I just said I didn't know and we argued for a bit. Then we settled on pick a number between one and two. Aiden did it. Basically one option was point and the other was escort. I just chose two, and then Aiden started walking with me. I guess I picked escort? Or maybe he really wanted to do that, so he rigged the game. I'll never know. Anyway yeah and then he showed me the right way and we said bye and that's the end of my day.

Author's Note: It's been a while. Like, a while. This chapter was in my drafts for so long but I was too lazy to finish it. Also, it looks like we're reaching the end of this story! After this, I have a few more entries spread out over a few months. One entry in May, one in July, two in September, one in October, and one in November. And that's it. I'm thinking of just putting them all in one chapter to make my life easier. That'll be the end of this story. In case you're wondering, I haven't stopped writing entries. I just won't be posting any more. Thank you to those of you who have been reading this story since chapter 1!
