Chapter 14

Tuesday February 28 2023

Before anything else, I need to talk about my group for the project. I actually lucked out (this time). I'm in a group with Maya and Aiden. Yes, Aiden. 

Once our groups were assigned, we had to get together with our groups to start working. Surprisingly, I actually had fun working. I usually hate group projects, but this time was different. I mostly had fun working because I was with people I already knew. I was also with Aiden (I would just say 'my crush' but that's cringe). I still can't believe I ended up with him. How lucky is that?

At swim practice, the only thing I could think about was Aiden. I may or may not be going crazy.

Also, after school tomorrow has been made official. Emma told John that I was going, and he seemed (?) okay with it. I just told my parents that Emma and I were hanging out at the park. They'll never know, right?

Emma told me that she's going to kick me out of the park so she can talk to her stupid boyfriend alone. Rude. I would just leave, but I'm Emma's excuse to go to the park, meaning if her parents come and I'm not there, she'll get grounded or something. I kind of hope Aiden finds out about it, and then he'll come too. At least then I can talk to him. That seems like something he would do. I mean, he always followed John whenever he went to talk to Emma, and I was always with Emma.

I'm going to try to get some sleep now.

Wednesday March 1 2023

Today was that day. Emma and John had their date at the park. Allow me to recap the entire day. Basically, the bell rang and Emma and I walked outside. We started walking down the path like we always do. Then Aiden came up behind us and said that John was coming. Then John came over and the four of us started walking. Then Aiden and I slowed down so Emma and John could walk together. I know, we're SO supportive. Aiden and I walked a few metres behind the two of them. We started whispering about what we thought was going to happen with them. At one point, Aiden was a little too close to my face for my liking.

We got to the park, but for some reason Emma and John were walking through the snow. Away from the park. Aiden and I had to yell at them and tell them they were going the wrong way. When Emma and I hang out at the park, we have this spot we always hang out at.  There's this stone building thing. It's not that tall; maybe slightly taller than me. We like to climb on top of it and just sit there. There's usually a picnic bench next to it, so that's how we get up. Today, the bench was in another spot, so Emma and I attempted to move it. We had little luck, but then John and Aiden came to help us. It didn't take long, since there were 4 of us. After we got on, we put our bags down. Is this safe? Probably not. 

John then started to say that he was kind of scared of being off the ground. *insert eye roll emoji*. We were not even two metres off the ground. I had a hard time believing him. He probably said that to get Emma's attention. Then we all started jumping off this stone thing for some reason. Again, not safe. We were also just talking and stuff. Then John asked Aiden if he was actually supposed to be at the park. He said no. Probably because his parents wanted him home or something. Aiden tried to get me to throw his bag down to him. I refused because I was worried I might throw it badly. He had his iPad in there. I already almost broke it once. John ended up climbing down and taking the bag from me to give to Aiden. Then he walked down the path to leave, but didn't leave. I was still on the stone thing, but Emma and John were on the path asking him to leave. Aiden said something like he would only leave if they asked nicely and didn't swear. Clearly they weren't succeeding, because Aiden was still there. I went down and politely asked him to leave. He replied "Okay" and left. Maybe I posses magical powers or something.

Then Emma, John, and I went back on the stone thing and started talking about random stuff. Emma had mentioned that she wanted to be alone with John (her boyfriend), so she was going to kick me out. She was probably jealous that I was talking to John. Eventually, I said "Emma, I get the hint. I'll leave now" I got off the stone thing and went to sit on a rock. I started scrolling on my phone, but it was kind of cold and stupid me forgot to bring gloves. I have a bad habit of forgetting gloves. I wasn't cold anywhere else, other than my hands. I decided to put my phone away and tried to fit my hands in my sleeves so they were somewhat warm. 

I eavesdropped on Emma and John. They weren't even talking about anything private! Like, why would Emma kick me out? It was probably because she wanted to be alone with her boyfriend. Speaking of him, he's a jerk. I don't know why she's dating him. I've known him since we were 7. She only got to know him last year (we were 11). 

Eventually, I got so bored that I went and asked Emma if they were almost done talking. She said five more minutes. I don't know why but I set a timer. When it went off, I didn't tell her because I was trying to be nice. Then I went on the swing. It was fun even though my hands were red and I could barely feel them. Then I finally saw Emma and John take their bags and climb down. I approached them and asked if they were done talking. Then Emma said they were going to walk home together. Usually I walk home with Emma, even though I live in the opposite direction. I watched as they left. They looked back at me a few times, which was weird. That made me think they were talking about me, but I highly doubted it.

Then I stopped at the library to return some books, then I walked home. That's what happened with Emma's little date which I had to go to.

Some stuff did happen afterwards. Yesterday, Aiden had left me on read in the middle of a darts game, so I texted him saying we needed to finish. He responded quickly. After that, we had a conversation that lasted about half an hour. I just filled him in on what happened after he left the park. 

Okay, I need to get some sleep. Bye.

Author's Note: Summer is depressing. I have nothing to do, and yet I still don't update my stories. I started working on this chapter a month ago, but I never got to finish it. I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter, and stay tuned for more (whenever I post them).
