Chapter 18

Wednesday April 12 2023

Today was THE big day!! Allow me to elaborate on everything that happened. First of all, I got to skip class the entire day! That's because I'm on the dance team and we had a showcase today. There were other schools coming and we performed our dances and stuff. After that, we had a dance workshop (which wasn't very fun), then we had lunch. We got pizza and juice boxes, sadly it wasn't free. That's because the dance teacher didn't charge the schools to come, so she wanted to raise some money to go towards competitions for next year by selling pizza and juice boxes. I sat with Emma and Cora at lunch. The three of us are all on the dance team so we've become really close because of dance. It was fun. After that, we had a dance party. There were a bunch of songs that I knew, and Emma and I were singing and dancing and she was acting drunk near the end. They even played K-pop songs! We also got ice cream sandwiches. It was really hot in the gym so Emma and I stepped out every once in a while. After all the schools left, we all were still partying and having fun. Then we had to clean up. We had to take down the decorations and put away the chairs and benches. At last recess, we were allowed to go outside to get some fresh air. That was a bad idea. We were in black T-shirts, leggings, and sweater jacket thingies. As soon as I stepped outside, I died. Emma and I stayed in the shade. We were already dead from the dance party. John and Aiden came over and asked us about the showcase. Once the bell rang, I was so happy. It was too hot outside. It's APRIL! It was like 26 degrees or something. After last recess ended, we went back to the gym to help clean up. When we got back, there was nothing else to clean up. Cora had left already (like to go home) so Emma and I just sat on a bench and chatted. Then the dance teacher gave a whole speech on how well we did and all that. By this time, it was about 3:00. I was hoping that she would take so long that it would be the end of the day and we didn't have to go back to class and do work. Her speech actually lasted longer than I thought it would. Then we went to get all our stuff from the music room (which we used to put our stuff). I tried to stall a bit, but I wasn't very successful. It was about 3:15 when we left the room. We went back and put our stuff in our lockers. Since there was still time, we went to the washroom. When we got back, everyone was packing up because we were going outside early. Any other day I would have loved that. Just not today. We just got our stuff and went outside.

Emma and I sat in the shade until the bell rang. Then she got this dumb idea to walk a bit and then take like a really long rest. I didn't care because my mind was somewhere else. School was over. I was going to talk to Aiden. We were walking along the path, and then I see Aiden behind us. I pretended not to notice him. Emma was taking way too long to walk, and I needed to get home, so I left her. I was walking behind Aiden at a safe distance, but it wasn't long before he saw me and waited for me so we could walk together.

We had started the walk. The walk home. I knew I had to tell him right away or else I would have gotten even more stressed. We just originally talked about random stuff like why I called him on Monday while I was walking (he's still asking about that). I saw one of my sister's friends walking behind us, and I told him that. So we sped up a bit. We had reached the public school and were walking along the wall. I knew I had to tell him. I stopped and said "Can we wait here for a second? I just need to tell you something" I was so scared that I wanted to run alway screaming. He stayed there, waiting for me to say something. I was breathing heavily because I was so nervous. I didn't know how to start it so I said "I don't know if I'm mentally prepared to say this" stupid. Yes. Then I took a few more breaths and was like "I like you". It was actually so awkward. Then I saw my sister's friend right behind us, so we kind of ran. Once we got away, he was like "I don't feel the same way". My heart immediately dropped and I wanted to run away. I was kind of just like "Okay" and made it sound like I wasn't upset that I just got rejected. Then he was all like "Now everything is going to be awkward". We ended up agreeing that we would just forget that ever happened. Then he said that I was really obvious. I WASN'T TRYING TO BE OBVIOUS! He said he could tell. Ughhh. Then he was asking me like why I liked him of all people and stuff. Then I asked if we could still be friends. Luckily, he said yes. He also said that now he has something to use against me. Great. That was most of the conversation. He also asked me if Emma knew. I said no. I explained that no one knew until yesterday, when I told Andrea because I trust her. I also accidentally mentioned that I liked him for almost six months. Then he absolutely lost his mind over that and I regretted every life decision I ever made. Then he was asking me if I ever liked anyone before and I said no. Then he was like "So that means I'm your first ever crush" and then said more stuff about it being awkward. Then we started talking about my Wattpad story and stuff. Yeah. He read it. Then I was telling him about what Julia said ages ago when she thought I liked Lucas. She basically said "If he rejects you, we'll stuff him in a locker and set the locker on fire" I said that to him as a joke. Then when we said bye and I literally ran out of there. I'm not sure he saw me, but I hope he didn't. Then I just listened to my music and walked home while being depressed but also proud that I had the courage to do that. I also texted Andrea to see when she was free so I could tell her about what happened. We made plans for 6:30

Around 6:30, someone knocked at my door. I knew it was Andrea. We decided to ride our bikes around our neighbourhood. I told her the entire story, and you know what her response to all that was? "That's sad. We both got rejected by the same guy" (context, Andrea liked him in like grade 3 or something). Yeah. Then we went to a nearby convenience store. I got a drink and she got some chocolates. Then we biked to the nearby park where we sat down. I was still texting Aiden. Ever since I told him all the stuff, we've been texting. All the time. Before Andrea came over, I texted him to make sure he was okay with me telling her. By the way, he texted me first every time. This time I just told him that I told Andrea about what happened. Then I had to go home to eat dinner. So did Andrea. We made plans to hang out again after we both ate dinner. After I ate dinner, I went back to my room to check my texts. Guess what I see? A text from Aiden! He said "I need to talk to you tomorrow" I asked when and stuff because I needed to know. We decided we were going to talk at the plaza after everyone left. I had told him I was going this Thursday before all the other stuff happened. I didn't want to bail last minute so I agreed. While I was texting him, I went to the library with Andrea to return some books, and then we went back to her house. Once we were in her room, I ranted about Aiden while still texting him. Then she said "Do you want to call Aiden and play Roblox?" I agreed because we had nothing better to do. I texted him. Before I ask if he wants to call I always ask "Are you busy right now". He's clearly learned that's what I say, because he said no and then "Do you want to call". Yeahhhh. So then I called him and tried not to make things too awkward. Then Andrea started to say how I got rejected and all that. Then she started calling me emo and depressed. Aiden was trying to get me to not be depressed. It's funny that it came from him because he's what made me depressed in the first place. Then we started talking about the plans for tomorrow. He said that he was going to tell me who the cloud person was. I honestly didn't really care at that point because he already rejected me. There was no point, but I still want to find out. Yeah. Then we hung up because Aiden had to go to bed. But, he did do something I never thought he'd do. He texted me good night. He's literally never done that before. I need to sleep now. That's all that happened but I'm excited for tomorrow.

Author's Note: It's been a while... It's fine though. A lot of my friends have become uninterested in this so there's not a lot of pressure on me to post chapters. Here is another one. I'll try and post the next one in maybe a week.
