The sun filtered through the blinds in thin, golden lines, casting soft shadows across the rumpled sheets and the still bodies entwined in them. For the first time in weeks, Y/N's sleep had been deep, dreamless. When she stirred awake, her body felt heavy, not with sadness or exhaustion, but with the weight of something new—something she hadn't yet decided was comfort or confusion.
She blinked slowly, adjusting to the soft morning light, and turned her head slightly.
Bakugo was still asleep beside her.
His breathing was steady, arms loosely wrapped around her waist like he was afraid she'd disappear if he let go. In sleep, his face looked younger, softer—like all the hardness that usually edged his features had melted away for just this moment.
Y/N stared at him, her heart thudding quietly in her chest. She wasn't sure what this meant. Not yet. The night before had been a blur of need and emotion, the aftermath of pain and betrayal finally boiling over into something physical, something real. But now that the haze had cleared, reality was waiting for her in the silence of the morning.
She gently shifted out of his hold, careful not to wake him, and sat on the edge of the bed. Her feet touched the cold floor, grounding her. For a long moment, she just sat there, elbows on her knees, head in her hands.
What had she done?
But the more she thought about it, the less regret she felt. She didn't feel ashamed. That surprised her.
She stood, pulling a robe around herself, and walked into the kitchen. The apartment was still a mess—empty takeout containers, half-folded laundry, the living room blankets strewn carelessly from her nights on the couch. But something inside her had shifted.
Maybe it was Bakugo. Or maybe it was the fact that for the first time in weeks, she hadn't cried herself to sleep.
She made coffee. The aroma filled the small space with warmth. As she poured herself a mug, she heard movement behind her. A few seconds later, Bakugo appeared in the doorway, shirtless and rubbing his eyes, his hair even more chaotic than usual.
