The coffee shop was warm, lit by the soft golden hue of hanging Edison bulbs and filled with the gentle hum of quiet chatter. Y/N sat near the window, stirring her matcha latte absentmindedly as she waited. She hadn't seen Uraraka in weeks—not since before the fallout with Todoroki, not since the breakdown that followed. Yet the text she sent to her old friend the night before had been met with instant excitement and a promise to meet "first thing tomorrow."

The bell above the door chimed, and Y/N looked up just in time to see Uraraka rush in, her signature smile bright and genuine, a flash of warmth in the cold that still lingered around the edges of Y/N's heart.

"Y/N!" Uraraka beamed as she hurried over and pulled her into a tight, swaying hug. "It's so good to see you. I missed you!"

Y/N let herself be held for a moment, her chest tightening with something like relief. "I missed you too."

They settled into their chairs, the familiarity of their friendship quickly weaving itself back into the space between them. Uraraka didn't hesitate to order a cinnamon bun and two hot chocolates—"for old times' sake"—and once everything was laid out before them, she leaned in with that gentle yet probing look that Y/N knew all too well.

"So..." Uraraka said carefully. "What happened? I saw Bakugo last week, and he looked... different. Not angry-different, but like, something was eating at him."

Y/N bit her lip, hesitating. "I guess a lot's happened."

Uraraka waited, patiently sipping her drink as she let Y/N gather the words.

"I quit working for Todoroki," she finally said. "Things got... bad. He said something that really hurt me, and I couldn't keep going like nothing happened."

Uraraka's eyes softened with concern. "What did he say?"

Y/N looked out the window, watching people pass by on the sidewalk, umbrellas open against the light drizzle. "He told me maybe I should reconsider the job if I couldn't handle it. After everything I did for him—after I got kidnapped helping him, after I practically rebuilt his schedule from scratch—he just dismissed me."
