Percy woke up sweating in his bed. His head hurt and he could feel the familiar presence of his mother sitting beside him. She was quiet until Percy groaned and rubbed his temples to ease the pain. "You've gotten heavier since you were a little boy. Paul had to help me get you into bed." Her voice was weary and tired. Percy felt guilt bottle up in his stomach.
"I'm so-"
"If you are going to apologize then I'm going to stop you right there." Sally interrupted in a firm voice. She slowly placed her hand on Percy's tearstained cheek. "None of this is your fault. It never was and never will be." More tears threatened to fall from Percy's eyes.
"I can see in my dreams." He said finally. "I always wish I could dream of you or Estella or Annabeth." Percy thought back to his dream and the girl he saw. She was the first person he saw in weeks.
"Well," Sally cleared her throat and moved to hold Percy's hand. "Estella looks very similar to my own mother. Of course you never met her but it's quite disorienting when she doesn't like a certain food and pulls the same face I remember from my childhood." Percy didn't realize how tense his body was until he started to relax by his mother's words. "But she has Paul's eyes. They're this bright blue that is apparently a staple in the Blofis blood line." She laughed and Percy let out a soft chuckle.
"What about you?" Percy asked. Sally gasped in fake shock.
"Percy Jackson! Don't you know it's rude to talk about a woman's appearance? I thought I raised you with manners." She swatted playfully at his shoulder with the hand that wasn't firmly attached to her sons. Percy let out a large laugh and Sally followed. "I decided to let my gray hair grow out." She said. "I have two children and one of them is a trouble magnet of course I'm going to have gray hair. Other than that I'm pretty sure I look the same."
"Are you going to slap me again if I ask about Annabeth?" Percy joked.
"Oh that girl truly is beautiful." Percy knew even without his eyes. "She cut her hair you know. It's up to her shoulders but she pulls it off. She's definitely gotten tanner. Especially when she comes back from Virginia, that southern heat with do that to you." Percy remembers Annabeth cutting her hair. Some of it was burned off in the pit so she decided to just completely get rid of it. She said it was easier to train and study without having her hair in her face all the time. "And that foot of hers is so strange looking." Her mother mused. "I mean I'm so glad she has it and everything and she seems pretty happy with it but I've never seen a prosthetic like that before."
"Leo is the one who made it so I'm sure it isn't a normal prosthetic." Percy replied. When she first got it Annabeth let him touch it. It was warm despite being metal. She said it was Imperial Gold that Leo "borrowed" from Camp Jupiter. It was smooth so she can wear socks without them catching on anything. Every time she got a new version or upgrade she would tell him about it in such detail that Percy can practically see it. She would tell him how it felt to wear it that he could almost believe he was wearing it. And her voice sounded so happy when she did.
"It's like a type of architecture that I can wear!" She exclaimed once.
"Does-" Percy took a breath. "Do we still have matching streaks? In our hair? The gray ones?" He reached up and tugged on where he remembered his streak was. He used to tug on it when he missed Annabeth, knowing she did the same thing when she was concentrating on something. He made her stop chewing on her pens after one of them broke in her mouth, covering her in blue ink. He remembered laughing so hard that Annabeth didn't speak to him for a whole day.
"Yeah." His mom said. "Yeah you both do." He could hear her smile through her voice. "You should call her."
"I know." Percy replied quietly. He knew he should tell someone about his dream but he really wished it wasn't important. He knew deep down that it was important as all demigod dreams are, but Percy and his friends just got through another war which they barely survived. Was it so bad that he just wanted some peace and quiet? Although Percy did find it strange that the dream happened after he met with the Avengers. He hasn't had a prophetic dream since the war, but the day he meets with the so called "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" and Thor he had this strange dream. It didn't help that Nick Fury proved he had connections with the gods, as little as that might be, it's enough.
Enough for Percy to realize he has to go back to the Stark Tower and ask about this weird little girl who had a creepy laugh. After he spoke to his girlfriend of course.
