Leorio patted his full, stomach while walking to an empty room. Completely satisfied by the feast he ate. Kurapika walked behind him, Wanderer right beside him. Barely an hour had passed, and they wanted to rest before the next phase.
Just when Leorio opened their shared room, since separating when Hisoka was nearby is a sure way to die-
-Tonpa found them. He smiled innocently and waved in greeting.
"Yo! I wouldn't recommend you three to rest just yet."
Wanderer ignored him and sat on the ground. Kurapika really wanted to follow his example, but he was interested in what Tonpa was planning on saying.
He turned to him, voice neutral.
"Why's that?"
The smile Tonpa had seemed a little forced now after Wanderer ignored him.
"I've been doing this exam for a while now, and oftentimes, a period like this WAS the next part."
Kurapika hummed with a hand on his chin, convincing Tonpa he was thinking it through.
"I see. Thank you for warning us."
"No problem!" Tonpa left with a grin, no doubt believing they would actually follow the advice of someone that's betrayed them several times.
After he left, Kurapika sighed and sat beside Wanderer. Leorio plopped down as well. He stretched his upper body and quickly started snoring.
Kurapika was also tired, but his curiosity won over. He glanced at Wanderer, who looked out the window in silence. Just staring at the city lights beneath them with his chin leaning on his palm.
His eyes reflected the lights, but he seemed to be thinking deeply about something else.
Kurapika slowly took three blankets that were tucked away inside his bag. He turned to Leorio, draping one over him while talking.
"Are you worried about her?"
Wanderer blinked his daze away and turned to him. When Kurapika turned, he offered him a warm blanket.
After a moment, Wanderer took it. Watching Kurapika settle beside him after wrapping the blanket over himself.
Those grey eyes weren't malicious, but not innocent either. Kurapika was fishing for information, but it wasn't to hurt them. Just out of his own curiosity. Just like Nahida often did.
"... Not really. "
Kurapika nodded and gazed out at nothing. No doubt thinking of what to ask, or how to even do it.
"If you don't mind-" Kurapika lifted his gaze, and their eyes met. "Can you tell me how you met?"
Wanderer turned back to the window, but instead of seeing the city, he was looking at Kurapika's reflection.
"It's not a fun story. And you should rest."
The blond raised a brow.
"And you shouldn't?"
"I don't need to."
Kurapika was waiting for him to say something else, but he didn't.
He paused in thought. What did he want to know? So far, he knows Nahida is a lot wiser than she seems, her eyes are strange, yet she acts and plays like both a child and an adult.
Wanderer, seemed like her guardian, but also someone that greatly depends on her. Like a child to their guardian. He can fly, and Kurapika didn't see any blood when Hisoka injured him. Even though the cuts were lodged deep inside his arm.
