“Dottore…” Wanderer scoffed while kicking his shoes off. Lifting a leg on the bed and resting his arm above his knee.
“Is surprisingly simple. Once you start paying attention, you'll realize he's nothing to be scared of or intrigued by.”
Nahida nodded in understanding. “When you analyze him, you can understand him easily.”
“Exactly.” Wanderer held his cheek and narrowed his eyes in thought.
“He's a sociopath. Is that the term?”
Nahida smiled and moved to sit comfortably. Legs stretched forward and her head turned to him.
“A sociopath finds release for their unlearned emotions by committing crimes. In simpler terms, they have difficulty in learning the set of emotions humans gain through experience. Empathy, remorse, guilt. We learn these through social norms and from our caregivers.”
Wanderer hummed and nodded. “Yes, he never cared for anyone but himself. I remember the discussions between his copies, deciding who they could use and what they would be good at.”
Remorse? Dottore had none. He smirked while lying to Wanderer. Made sure every procedure in his journey to become a God hurt, and only felt guilty when his own theories were proven wrong.
Which wasn't often…
“While a cocky bastard, he had reasons to feel superior.”
The clones, his experiments, the funding Pantalone handed over easily, how the Tsaritsa turned a blind eye to everything he did so long as the results appeared…
His long life gave him the experience to manipulate people and get what he wanted. The Tsaritsa gave him knowledge not even Nahida knew, and all the clones created a series of thoughts and ideas that was practically an ocean of experiments he could pick and choose from.
Wanderer had the misfortune of spending the most time with him thanks to their plan. He now knows that to Dottore, he was a pie from the sky.
A puppet created by an Archon, a core filled with Electro. Lost and gullible.
How could he resist bringing him over? Speak into his ear with everything he wanted to hear.
“I can make you a god.”
“You can be stronger than the Shogun.”
“The Gnosis can be yours, as it should have been.”
The hot breath of the snake curled around Wanderer's neck. How its words helped him breathe before the leash tightened.
“I will help you. Archons only care for themselves.”
“When have I ever lied? I'm not the one that betrayed you. Your little friend did.”
“Go on to the Abyss and find me this. I believe in you.”
“I see… So that's how she made you… Kehehe…”
Wanderer frowned and shook his head. Dispersing those thoughts away and clenched his fist. “He used me. Studied me, experimented on my body, pushed me to my limits and promised it was all for my revenge. For the Tsaritsa, for me…”
He scoffed and looked out the large, circular window by the wall beside them and their new beds.
“I just listened to everything. Ate what he gave me, frowned as he touched me, bit my tongue and gritted my teeth the rougher and tougher he treated me.”
Wanderer touched his shoulder, feeling the procedure he could only remember. Irminsul erased him from history, and healed his body. None of Dottore’s procedures were there.
