Wanderer took his time flying around the island, hiding above trees and observing anyone that passed by. Hanzo was by far their hardest challenge.
To make things easier, and ensure their victory, Nahida decided to organize a plan that involved both of their powers. Following Hanzo, a stealth expert, would be nearly impossible for them without catching Hanzo off guard first.
Sneaking up on him, following after him, all of it had a low percentage for success. But they needed to know where Hanzo was at all times for their strategy to work.
That's why, Nahida found Hanzo on the boat and made a small picture frame with her fingers. Doing the same for her target, Shishito. The Dendro mark would stay on them for an entire week with the amount she placed on each one.
Now, they can follow the green marks to find them. But, Wanderer frowned when he saw her do this.
"You said you wouldn't use your powers, since they're limited."
Nahida wasn't sure what she could say to reassure him. So she settled on a simple- “It will be alright. Two simple marks like these aren't enough to make me shrink.”
That answer didn't seem to satisfy him. As they kept jumping from one branch to the next, Nahida grew sure of his mood. His scowl was still there. Whether it was because of her, Kurapika, or both, she wasn't too sure.
"Wanderer, there is only one more phase after this one. Netero told me so.” He didn't look at her, but Nahida knew he was listening.
“We need this license, the information it can give us with how much it is worth. We are so close to finding a way home..."
Wanderer sighed and looked down, choosing to focus on his steps more than his words.
"Even so, there's no point if you start shrinking."
Nahida hummed in agreement. In the end, he's mad and disappointed because of her… Instead of arguing or defending herself, Nahida nodded.
“You are right. I am being a little impulsive with my own power and body-”
“You think?”
Nahida continued regardless. “So, what if I don't use any of my powers after this?"
Wanderer finally looked at her.
"I want to guarantee a license for us, and the people here have abilities we don't fully understand yet."
Like Hisoka, Netero's words on Nen, and maybe even how Satotz ran for so long and still led the way without breaking a sweat.
"I don't want to take any chances, so... Can you forgive me for this, just this once?"
Wanderer knew she was simply ensuring their victory. But a part of him, still believed she simply didn't trust his capabilities to find and hunt down Hanzo.
He didn't answer and kept moving above the trees.
Nahida noticed the sour mood and decided to quiet down for now. Wanderer always made it clear when he didn't want to talk, this was one of those times. Forcing words out of him will make his mood worse.
She watched his steps, waiting for the chance to talk once more.
Relationships have their good, and bad moments. Sometimes, arguments and silence help more than agreement and chatter. Of course, context matters the most.
In their current context, this silence allowed Wanderer to think. Until he finally stopped jumping, and wordlessly sat on a branch, gently placing her beside him.
