The paramedic then says, "Excuse me sir."

Wide-eyed I look up. He continues, "I need to lift her to the gurney. May I please stand where you're sitting?"

"King, come stand by me. We're following them to the hospital." says my dad.

Discombobulated, I stand trying to figure out which way to go. I finally figure out where I am then watch the paramedics. They count to three then lift her body to the ambulance gurney. They strap her in then go to cover her face with the sheet, and I lose it! My dad and several police have to restrain me.

I'm yelling, "Get that off of her fucking face!"

"King!" My dad cries out.

"Give me my fucking wife!"

"Calm down so we can go to the hospital with her! They're not letting us in if you're irate. Okay?"

"Okay! Okay! Just don't let them take her from me dad. Please!"

Now I'm wailing. Suddenly, my dad starts speed walking away, but I follow him. They're pushing her body to the ambulance as we enter our rental. They now have the sheet over her head and the straps over her body. Once I enter the car I start hyperventilating.

"King! Breathe son!" My dad then jumps out yelling, "We need help! My son can't breathe!"

A paramedic hurries to aid me. Grieving for me, the woman paramedic says, "I know it's a lot to take in, but you have to calm down Mr. York."

"May I ride in the ambulance with her?" I whisper.

Looking all around she answers, "You can't Mr. York. But once we get there, here, call me. I promise I'll let you in the morgue."

Hearing the word morgue traumatizes me. I guess she sees it in my eyes, so quick she stutters, "I-I mean the hospital! Okay? Tell no one, just follow me there. Okay?" I nod. She smiles then jogs to the ambulance.

We get to the hospital entrance, and she comes to me saying, "Mr. York, you can't come this way. The authorities will direct you now." She then mouths, "Call me!"

I call her, but of course she doesn't answer. My dad asks, "King, what are we doing?"

"The paramedic's going to let us in."

"Why?"

I flip him off saying, "Dad you can go. I'm good now."

"No! I'm good son. Sorry, for asking a dumb question. I'll be quiet."

I can't sit still. I sit in the car, I then stand by the car. I start pacing the parking lot. My dad's talking to Leah I'm sure. Then finally she calls.

"Yes!"

"Mr. York, it's me, Eurie. Meet me at the emergency entrance." she hangs up.

As we're walking to the door she calls again. "Eurie?"

"Look to your left Mr. York."

I see her waving by a side entrance. We enter and she whispers, "I can't go any further or I'll be fired. I'm going to give you access to this employee elevator. Take it to the basement. Once you get to the basement exit the elevator and walk to the end of the hall. You'll see the morgue. No one should be down there yet. Go and look for her name. I'm so sorry about your loss Mr. York."

Words escape me as she uses her badge to open the elevator. We get on and push the lower level button. My dad's staring at me, but I just look straight ahead. The doors open to a dimly lit floor. We're on the opposite side of the hospital. It's a long arduous walk. My dad nor I say a word. Finally we're at the morgue double doors. I enter and my dad follows.
