Dark Horizons
Chapter 10
"Just don't shoot the messenger ok?" he asked seriously. I had ended up laying on him again after our staring contest. I finally convinced him to tell me whatever it was. Afterall it was my right to know whatever he knew about my parents.
"Ok, please just tell me." I had also begun speaking like a normal person again. I was sure I looked like hell though.
"Your parents death was..." he sighed," arranged." He breathed out quietly, his arm tightened around my waist. He obviously didn't like it. The words he said didn't fit in his mouth. They didn't fit with him period. I was overwhelmed wth neasea. It made no sense, why kill my parents if they wanted me? Did they want me to hate them? Is that why they did this to my parents and my closest friend?
"You wouldn't joke with me about something like that?" I asked seriously. I tried to turn around to face him but his arm restricted me so I returned to my original position.
"Pam, your the most important part of my life, why would I joke about something like that?" he asked. I could feel him shaking his head. He probably didn't enjoy my doubt.
"I don't know, just looking for an excuse I guess. Sorry for doubting you." I said relunctantly. "But why did they...you know?" I asked.
"Revenge. Your parents ran away with the royal child, technically it was kidnapping. So they let you live a normal life and let your parents love you. Then instead of take you from them they killed them, that will always be something I can never explain to you because I think it would have been worse to make them live without you then to end their lives." he replied. It was shocking how much he was telling me. I didn't like that a kingdom I would one day help rule thought of my parents and kidnappers, outlaws, criminals.
I would have cried or at least shed a tear at the thought but I was cried out and couldn't even make my eyes water.
After that we just sat there for a few minutes staring at the wall. I began to drift off cuddling up in his warm chest.
"I really missed stuff like this." I murmured into his shirt.
"I missed you more then you will know, I love you." he said.
"Awww I love you, too." I replied. I heard his seriousness in his tone but what was the point of getting involved if I was just going to be taken?
"Its time for you to go." he said . He sat up and brought me up with him.
"Five more minutes?" I asked, I felt like a child again.
"No they are here now." he replied harshly standing up. I followed his lead and stood up, too. I tried to smooth out Damons wrinkled shirt but it didn't do much, I raked my fingers through my hair and rubbed my eyes profusiously. I doubted it helped.
There was a knock on the door.
"Alright come on out. Cars running. I know how much you like my car." Damon called through the door. It sounded like he was teasing a dog with a treat. I rolled my eyes. I found Ian, who had walked away to the closet, and gave him a big hug. It felt like we weren't going to see each other again.
"Promise you'll see me soon?" I asked even though I knew it was pointless. He just nodded. I looked at him sadly because I wanted him to say something. I would have taken him saying 'I hate you' over this nothing.
"I love you, Ian. Thank you for always being there for me." I half whispered half said. I was afriad he'd think I was being sarcastic. He didn't reply. There was another knock on the door.
