Dark Horizons
Chapter Twelve
We all stood in silence for some time. The figure was still. He couldn't hide for long though because the smoke was clearing and the candles had flickered back to life.
"Well?" His voice rang through the room.
"Im sure you know I'm going to be king. The king needs a queen. We need you here to help plan the ceremony." Damon said stepping forward. With that the thing stepped forward too.
This man wasn't like Damon, Demitri, or Ian. Yes, he was also tall and muscular but his jet black hair almost looked blue and his eyes were a deep, cold, black. He had tatoos all the way up his right arm and one on his left wrist. He wore a thick, black, leather bracelet and a chunky black ring that matched his lip ring. His clothes consisted of a black muscle shirt and black skinny jeans that were cut off at the knees, paired with black vans. I hadn't heard of demons like him.
"Yea. I figured. New king come to whine to me about something I don't care about." the guy said.
"Well, tell us your name." I demanded surprising myself.
"Its Rayne. R-A-Y-N-E. Don't spell it like that gentle rain crap. I'm no hippie." he said. He flipped his hair out of his face and flashed a fake smile.
"Alright nice to meet you. I'm Pam." I said returning the smile with false sincerity. He obviously had an attitude problem.
"Should I pretend to care?" he retorted. He was so upfront about his rudeness.
"Dont talk to her like that!" Alex snapped. We obviously shared mutual feelings for Rayne. I smiled at her.
"I believe I can talk to her however I want. Afterall, she does need me to be with dreamy Damon forever." he sneered. Suddenly, someone grabbed my wrist and started pulling me backwards.
"Pam, it's time we leave them to there work. Come on." it was damons voice that ordered me from behind. I spun around to face the back of his head while I awkwardly twisted my wrist getting it out of his grip.
"Bye Lex." I said quietly. She didn't reply. She was shooting dagers at Rayne.
Damon and I walked up the stairs. I heard voices coming from the living room. It sounded like Isabelle and Ian?
"Do you not understand?" I heard Ian's low voice growl.
"Not understand what?" I asked as I walked into the room. Isabelle was sitting in a black leather recliner and Ian was on a love seat. Ian turned to look at me and he flashed a big smile. I walked over and sat down next to him.
"Oh nothing." Isabelle answered for him.
"Alright then." I said as Damon walked in with Demitri at his side. Damon leaned against the doorway and Demitri took a seat close and personal with Isabelle. I smiled at the pair of them.
"So what are they doing downstairs?" I questioned looking at Damon.
"Alex is the one that is going to do the initial communication with him because she's used to this kind of stuff." he said.
"Alright." I responded simply.
"We ordered pizza." Ian said positively. That was enough to make me smile. I was starving. I think it had been two days since I ate anything.
"Hungry?" Ian inquired.
"Yep. Starving. Forty eight hours." I said.
"Good job making me feel bad." Demitri murmured. I half smiled when I heard him say it because he sounded so sincere.
"Its ok buddy." I replied looking up at him. He smiled back standing up and walking over to me. I tilted my head at him giving him a questioning look and then he leaned down scooped me up and hugged me. At first it was a sweet gesture but then it became hard to breathe.
"Demitri...air...can't...breatheeee." I managed to get out. He chuckled a little and loosened his hold, but he didn't let go of me.
"So we are friends again?" he asked in my ear. I smiled because it sounded like when little kids had fights and made up.
"If I say yes will you let go of me?" I joked. He laughed and spun around again.
"Maybe, if your sincere." he said.
"Then yes, we are sincerely friends again." I said. With that he put me down and brushed himself off before walking back over to a smiling Isabelle and plopped down next to her. I went to sit back down too but Damon was in front of me out of no where.
He stared down at me with a curious look and then gently brushed some hair out of my face, tucking it behind my ear.
"Am I forgiven?" he asked softly. His eyes looked sad and I could feel my heart breaking. The badass Damon was asking for my forgivness. I smiled softly.
"For now." I replied. He looked at me for a second or two and the turned to Demitri.
"You really found the on for me." he said laughing. Demitri looked at me smiling and nodded.
"I don't know any other girl that can stand up to that Damon charm." demitri moked. Since damons attention was elsewhere I sat back down and was smooshed against Ian when Damon sat down too.
Ian responded by scooting away a little and sitting up straighter trying to make room, Damon just put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I had almost forgotten about the prince princess thing. That was a reminder.
"Hey, Demitri, pizzas here." Damon said. I didn't know how he could know that. As far as I knew he wasn't pyschic, but the door bell rang right after he said it and Demitri left his spot to go get the door.
"Can I go get Alex? I know they are busy but she's probably hungry, too." I asked cautiously.
"Sure! And you can get that little demon too." Demitri said grinning at me. I smiled back and giggled a little. Then I struggled to get out of Damons
I walked over to the stairs and quietly took the first step not wanting to interupt anything. I heard their voices. They were using sharp, hushed, tones. I didn't like when Alex talked like that because it scared me.
