Dark Horizons
Chapter fourteen
I woke up and there was a dark shadow across the room from me. I was scared and confused because I didn't see Ian. The room itself had seemed to get darker and creepier.
"Whos there?" I called out. The arm attached to the shadow lifted and there was a dark hand in front of my face pressed against my lips making me scoot as far backwards into the wall as I could. There was a dark chuckle that I recognized, then I saw his face. Rayne.
"Jesus, Rayne! You can't just knock and say hello like a normal person?" I exclaimed relaxing a little. He shrugged his shoulders and sat at the foot of the bed.
"This isn't real. You shouldn't be scared of your dreams. You should have grown out of that by now." He said calmly. Then I realized why ian wasn't there, because I was dreaming and Rayne was controlling it.
"What do you want, Rayne?" I asked tiredly stretching out.
"I don't really know. Your friend, Alex? She's a fiery little one. You wouldn't think that when you first see her but boy...she doesn't like me. I don't get it, most of you mortals fall all over me when you can see me. I mean look at me, I'm gorgeous. Sure, I'm not some vampire but I'm mysterious, I'm cute, I'm nice, smart, strong, I could go on and on. Well, anyways, what I'm trying to say is, what can I do to make her like me a little more. Her being Alex of course." He said looking uncomfortable. When he first started talking I was angry that he disturbed my dream but once he for awkward and talked about Alex I smiled at him.
"Alex is the sweetest girl I know. Whatever she has done to make you think she's fiery it's just an act. Your a bit intimidating and don't exactly give off a loving nice atmosphere. You can win her over by being sweet to her. Get to know her then use something she told you to do something sweet. Like, her grandmother. She used to give her these beautiful hand crafted masks. Alex started collecting them, that's always the perfect gift, but her most treasured one is one that I made her from plastic and feathers. She like the home made thoughtful gifts. Just something sweet." I said thinking back to the night Alex and I spent hours gluing feathers and rhinestones to plastic masks for our school dance. It was one of my favorite memories and I loved the mask she made me, too. Rayne smiled too.
"That's sweet. I'm not usually one to be all mushy and listen to nostalgia but
I've never met a girl who isn't filled with dread the moment she touches me." He said a bit darkly.
"I understand. Alex is a special girl. She's worth a chase. But, just so you know, she hasn't had a real relationship in quite some time because when people touch her...they see what she sees. You guys are like the perfect couple." I said excitedly. I always wanted Alex to get a boyfriend.
"Don't do that." He said in a confused way.
"Do what?" I asked, also confused.
"Your being a girl. I didn't come to you for that. I could have easily gone to Isabelle." He said seriously. I rolled my eyes because I knew he was lying.
"Ill stop being a girl. But, I know that you came to me because I seem like the softy of the group. Also, because I'm closer with Alex then Isabelle is. Now, will you get out of my dream?" I asked a bit jokingly. Honestly I enjoyed sleeping but still being useful.
"So you can go back to dreaming of Ian? The whole thing is ridiculous. I'm here to marry you to a man you don't love. You do know I can't preform the ritual if you aren't truly in love." He stated.
"What are you talking about?" I asked trying to pretend like I didn't know what he was talking about. I did know though. When I first saw Ian at the mall I knew I felt something for him. His hypnotic eyes and gorgeous smile. He wasn't the same boy I met a long time ago.
