Chapter twenty-one
Let me tell you that waking up from a vampyric transformation is probably the weirdest feeling. It's like when you get the best sleep of your life but you slept in an awkward position so your stiff. Or like drinking water after a three hour workout, the water is amazing and you feel great from the exercise but your still sore and exhausted.
I opened my eyes and noticed the difference imediatly. Everything looked sharper, crisper. I could see a strand of hair that was sticking to the ceiling fan, there was an off white patch on the peppermint ceiling, and someone had scratched the wall opposite me. I could hear someone coughing in the house next door. I could smell a metallic copper scent that came from the carpet. It got me curious so I threw off the blanket that was on top of me and lept to the floor. Near the corner of the bed was a brownish red stain. Once I saw the color I knew what it was, the thing that made me nervous was that the realization of what it was didn't make my skin crawl, I liked the smell. I liked the strange color the stain made in the carpet.
"Im going to go check on her." I heard someone say. I smiled when I realized the voice belonged to Ian. His voice sounded a little more raspy and deep. I subconsciously wondered what he would look like to my new eyes.
"Why?! You keep checking on her! She's not your responsibility!" I heard someone else growl in response. This time it was Damon. I heard some people shuffling around for a few seconds before Ian responded.
"She is." he said so softly I almost didn't hear it.
What did you say?" Damon questioned. I could tell he was clenching his teeth. Things were getting tense down there.
"She is my responsibility. Don't you remember when your mother turned me? She turned me and you told me that I would always have to protect Pam. I would always have to put her before myself. That I should always worry about her no matter what. You told me no matter what she is my responsibility." Ian replied. He didn't sound cocky or pleased with himself, he just sounded like he was informing Damon.
"I did say that." Damon admitted quietly. I smiled. Damon had really told Ian that, it touched me.
"I'm going to check on Pam." Ian stated, again. This time no one responded and I heard footsteps on the stairs. I went to get on the bed and was shocked when I was already there. Vampire, the voice in the back of my head said.
I saw the doorknob turning and layed down cuddling into the blanket. The room was soon bathed in light and I closed my eyes. I felt a weight in the bed and assumed Ian had sat by my feet.
"Come on, Pam. I said twelve hours, it's been two days. You have to wake up everyone needs you. Damon needs you, Alex and Isabelle need you, I think even Rayne needs you. Your still alive in there, if you could call it alive. Please, wake up. Whatevers keeping you asleep, fight it. We all need you. Please Pam." he whispered. I was shocked that I had been sleeping for so long. I didn't know how it was possible.
"Pam, please, I love you." He sighed. The bed shifted as he crawled over and brushed some hair put of my face, then kissed me on the forehead. I stopped breathing, the way he had said I love you sounded like more then a friend. I decided I would pretend like I never heard it.
