His dark eyes analyzed me, while my gaze was more or less determined. I saw him coming slightly closer, but I didn't budge. He stopped only a few steps away from me, his jaw clenched. He wasn't standing really far, which was pretty intimidating.
"You should be careful how you talk to me, Jungkook."
Tears appeared on the corners of my eyes. But no, I wasn't going to flinch. I had to show him how angry I was.
How deeply I was hurt.
For once, I had things to say. I was petrified of telling him, of fuelling his anger, but he had no right to do what he had done to me.
"You've r-really hurt me, s-sir..." I sobbed but still keeping some control.
He strongly frowned, upset. But I had carefully talked in a softer, more respectful tone of voice. My goal wasn't to tempt the devil. I just wanted him to understand that I was scared. Extremely scared.
"We'll talk about it later. This is neither the time nor the place," he said.
He turned his gaze to the broken-down door. I pursed my lips. Then, in a somewhat insolent tone, I whispered:
"We'll n-never have the time to t-talk-"
"Enough!"
I gasped, looking away. That's it, I was about to cross a line. Taehyung had shouted. Not that loud, but he still had shouted. His deep voice had suddenly risen unexpectedly. And damn, what a strange thing to hear him scream. He seemed tired, exasperated and out of breath.
Maybe he was right, maybe we should have this discussion later... Not only because of where we were, but mostly because of my boss's condition. I suddenly realized something very important: although Taehyung had sold me out, he was risking his own life and the lives of his employees, right now, to save me. And like an idiot I'd give him a ridiculous argument without thinking about everything else.
At that moment, I hated myself.
With my eyes wide open, I stammered these few words, hating myself a little more every second:
"S-sorry, I... I don't know what g-got into me..."
My boss pinched the bridge of his nose. I looked down as I saw how he was holding his anger in. A few seconds passed before he spoke again:
"Just follow me, and most importantly, keep your mouth shut. It's an order."
I froze, as if I suddenly got woken up. Shit, I was really close to crossing the line. I shyly nodded and he came closer again. I almost gasped when he firmly grabbed my right wrist. He held me rather tightly, then dragged me behind him without saying another word.
We were running down the stairs at an incredible speed. I almost fell, but the brunette's firm grip prevented me from falling. Quickly, we reached the metal door and Taehyung pushed it.
"Jimin!" He called.
My colleague and friend arrived in front of me. He gave me a faint smile, but then he soon turned his attention to our boss.
"We've got everything secured. They're all tied up further back in the parking lot, sir. As for Jiho, he's still passed out and we put him with the others. What should we do?"
"Where are Yoongi and Namjoon?"
"They're holding the men too, along with our crew."
"Good, stay with Jungkook. I'll be back in five minutes."
We nodded. My superior let go of my wrist and I felt a light warmth linger, as if his hand was still on it. He walked away and disappeared from my sight. He probably went to give instructions to his employees before he left.
