Taehyung had just played a simple pawn, the
first in the game, moving it forward one space. After returning to his King square, he crossed his arms and stared at me, waiting for me to take my turn.

I looked at the board and grabbed my Knight. So I made him advance on the checkerboard, and returned to my pawn square. In turn, my superior took his Rook and moved it to the middle of the board.

In order to quickly put my Queen into play, I moved a pawn to free her. A smile split my face when I saw the brunette move the same Tower from earlier to the right.

I began to move my own body, which was currently a pawn, forward. After that, Taehyung brought forward a Knight. To definitively free my Queen, I advanced a new simple pawn. And the brunette ate my first pawn. But I suspected it, yet I let him do it because I didn't have time to save him; I first had to free my Queen.

A small glance is established between him and me. His face was half serious and half amused, and it warmed my heart.

Suddenly, it was as if the network no longer existed, as if it was just him, me and this chessboard.

"Sir?" He stuffed his ringed hands into his pockets and looked at me.

"Will the winner gain anything...?" My boss raised an eyebrow and tilted his face slightly to the side.

"What do you want ?" He then asked me, suspecting that my request was not trivial. I blushed and looked away at my white pieces.

"N-nothing... It's my turn." I said, my voice shy. He didn't respond but I felt his burning gaze on my actions.

I brought out my Queen and placed her behind my two advanced pawns. The brunette ate a second simple pawn from me. I smile as I slide my Fool and eat his Rook. He pretended to be surprised. I say pretend. Because, just after that, my Fool was eliminated by his Rider.

I frowned. He had trapped me. I had been so happy to eat his Rook that I had forgotten the square where my Bishop was going to land.

"No..." I squealed. My superior gave his lips a quick lick and crossed his arms again after putting my Bishop behind the game board. I sighed and now carefully observed the state of the game. An idea popped into my mind. I grabbed my King and Rook and casted. A Castling was the action of placing one's King and Rook one above the other and placing them side by side. Thus, my King was protected by now being on a square at the bottom right of the board, and my Rook was more centralized, allowing me to use it better in the game.

My boss chuckled lightly. Yes, he had laughed. It was light, short, almost imperceptible, and yet he had laughed. A little amused snicker.

I stared at him, amazed. He quickly recovered and clenched his jaw before looking at me.

"That's not going to protect you from me." A long shiver ran down my spine. His voice was so deep it almost made me dizzy. This man had infinite charisma, I never doubted it. And that same charisma made me lose my mind whenever he said something that way, with that intense look.

"...To m-me." I blush with shame after my ridiculous stutter. Taehyung didn't comment, but we had both heard how unsettled his statement had made me. I coughed slightly and allowed myself to move forward, as a simple pawn. I then approached a square and faced a Taehyung pawn.

The latter looked at me and brought forward a Knight. Everything then happened very quickly; I managed to unlock a Tower, which was eaten by its Fool. I hadn't anticipated the latter's diagonal access. However, I glanced to the right and smiled a little. His Fool was in the line of sight of my Rider.

Happy, I took it from him without regret.

"I really didn't think you would fall into my trap a second time." He then blurted out. I stared at him without understanding. He gave me a provocative look that made me lose the use of my lungs before eating my Knight with his Queen. Oh.
