I was paralyzed, in shock at his mere presence while, for his part, he was only calmly still.

My eyes were screaming for him to come closer.

When he started walking towards me again , I felt my stomach drop. My legs felt like they weighed a ton. He electrified me on the spot.

The music was still seeping into my ears , the other guests were still staring at us out of the corner of their eyes even though they continued to chat among themselves. They acted as if they weren't spying on us, while all their attention was focused on the simple fact that Taehyung was inhaling and exhaling.

Because everything about him was precious.

"Taehyung, I'm glad you're finally here." A voice suddenly spoke up.

My heart raced when I lost sight of my superior.

I gritted my teeth when I realized who was coming to stand right in front of me.

"Kang-Dae..." I growled.

"Jungkook, let me welcome my guest of honor . Don't act like a child." He smiled at me.

He turned back to Taehyung and approached him.

I tensed and raised my head high to try to keep my composure, when I couldn't even blink my eyes as I wanted to monitor the slightest actions of the guest of the manor towards the blond.

Just dare to touch him.

I wanted to come forward in my turn but suddenly hand was placed on my shoulder.

"Ava, let me go-"

I fell silent when I noticed a completely different person beside me than my colleague, who was a little further away now , as if she had wanted to leave me alone to welcome Taehyung. Yet apparently someone else still wanted to stop me.

"Hey, Jungkook."

I widened my eyes trying to see who was hiding behind the simple black mask.

"Dong...Dongwoon? Is that you? -Yes, anything else?" he blurted.

His still jaded voice confirmed his identity to me. I looked him up and down. His costume was simple; a black tuxedo, a black mask. But one detail made me wince; his clothes seemed a little too baggy for him.

And then, very quickly, I made the connection.

"Wait, you're the one who stole the..."

"Yes. I still don't believe you about what you told me about the masked ball, so I wanted to see it with my own eyes."

Surprised by his audacity, I raised my eyebrows slightly, before taking a step back to take a good look at him.

"You shouldn't stay here," I said, worried.

"Are you afraid that I will prove you wrong? No, because between us, there isn't a shadow of a caged teenager around." He reproached me.

I sighed, glanced at Taehyung and Kang-Dae who were talking, and turned my attention back to my youngest.

"It could get very bad tonight, you understand?"

He clenched his fists as he stared at me.

"So I was right," he breathed. -What?"

He shook his head.

"You're only here to serve your own interests. What do you want to do , huh? Burn the mansion down?"

"This decision will be up to Kang-Dae."

He looked at me without understanding, so I continued.

"If Kang-Dae agrees to leave Taehyung and the kids locked up here alone, then I don't care about attacking this mansion."
