Akira sat on the steel table of the somewhat meeting room. Her legs were apart, dangling. She had her hands resting on her knees. The room was filled with Avatars, blue wearing brown cargo shorts, green tank top and combat boots. Her expression showed that she was clearly bored. She blew some hair out of her face. The rest of her hair was tied into a bun, two braids hanging down from either side of her face.
Colonel Quaritch stepped into the room.
" We're not in Kansas anymore, " he started. His speech seemed similar to the one given years ago. When he was done talking, he noticed the girl, who seemed as if she was no older that 14 or 15 years.
Akira was aware that the Colonel was looking at her. Of course, he would. She would be part of his team. And she knew that the wheels in his brain was spinning rapidly to answer his question: Why in hell was there a kid in his team?
The Colonel talked a bit more, before finishing with a name. Jake Sully. The others cheered to that: hunting down Jake Sully. Quaritch then went off, as Akira suspected. He was probably going to find the General. Such a coincidence that the General had informed Akira to meet her after the meeting.
She hopped of the table, nodding her head at one of the Avatars. She strolled quickly, taking big strides. She found General Ardmore drinking coffee.
" General Ardmore," Akira said, nodding her head.
" Akira, just in time," Ardmore gave a smile before setting her cup down. Akira took the mug, taking a swig of what was left.
" Thirsty?" Ardmore raised a brow.
" Nah, just felt like drinking something...strong?" Akira answered.
" General!"
Both Ardmore and Akira turned towards the voice, Colonel Quaritch.
" Ah! Just the person I needed to see!" Ardmore said and Quaritch walked over. He glanced over at Akira.
" General, with all due...respect...why-" the Colonel was interrupted.
" Why is there a kid in my team?" Akira said mockingly, making her voice sound deep and with an accent, " Ya, ya we know Colonel, you don't need to say it."
Quaritch raised a brow at her before focusing on the General.
" That was what I needed to tell you, Colonel," Ardmore told him. " Let me introduce you. Akira here is in your team to help you. She knows the forest well and will guide you to what you should and should not do."
" But how can a kid guide a team? She has no experience!"
Akira rolled her eyes. Wow, this Colonel really underestimates people.
" She might have no experience with military, but she knows the forest well, young Akira here have been studying Pandora since she was 8, she has more knowledge than most of us here. And she knows the Na'vi language well. Afterall, she has been speaking it since she was 8. And I can prove that too," General explained. Quaritch listened with a blank face. Akira straightened her back.
" No offense. Colonel but you won't last an hour out there without me." she said strongly. The Colonel grunted but reluctanly obeyed the order.
" How old are you, kid?" he asked.
" 15"
He's eyes went wide for a second before returning to their normal shape.
" Huh," he grunted.
" I'll take my leave General," Akira said, nodding to the General before doing the same to Quaritch.
" Colonel, walk with me," Ardmore ordered as Akira went back. Tomorrows going to be a hell of a day.
