"did you hear about the tiktoks?" jisung asks as he slides into the empty chair beside me. stray kids and i are sitting in one of the jyp conference rooms, waiting for the staff members to show up so we can discuss the comeback songs.

"what tiktoks?" i ask, glancing at hyunjin for context. unfortunately, his expression is as blank as mine. jisung exhales a laugh.

"you lovebirds were too distracted by each other to check social media, huh?" he teases, nudging me in the side. i laugh it off and try to suppress the warmth from creeping to my cheeks. "the videos you filmed," jisung explains, "the ones of seungmin and jeongin."

"oh! are they doing well?" i ask, curiously.

"uh, YEAH, they're doing amazing! both versions blew up and the one where seungmin is the puppy is still going crazy. the comments are 50% people saying he's a cute dog and 50% about how our last few tiktoks have been our best ones yet. the puppy videos haven't surpassed the one with my incredible acting, of course, but these videos are some of the biggest on our account so far. felix, you really have a magic touch for this kind of stuff," he compliments, leaning back in his chair and looking impressed as he takes a sip of his iced americano.

i blink in surprise, trying to absorb everything jisung is saying. stays are saying that they like the tiktoks i directed? my heartbeat quickens and i don't know what to say. i glance at hyunjin and catch him smiling at me proudly, making me even more flustered.

     "alright, let's get started." before i have a chance to respond, a woman's voice breaks through the room, distracting me from my thoughts. she's wearing a navy blue suit with a white blouse underneath. her hair is shoulder-length and dark and she wears clean makeup. having finished helping a few staff members set up the projector, she now walks to the head of the large oval table and sits down. in the time i had been talking with jisung, all of the empty chairs had been filled with staff members.

     "i heard we have a new member on our team, so let's address that first. lee felix, would you please stand?" startled, i quickly stand up and look around the room, bowing to everyone respectfully. i'm wearing a nice, beige, collared shirt with a white t-shirt underneath and black slacks that i bought on the shopping trip with hyunjin. regardless of how well-dressed i am, i still feel uncomfortable under the staff's curious eyes. a few of them are looking me up and down. is it because they recognize my name as hyunjin's boyfriend? do they think i'm not good enough for him?

"mr. lee will be giving advice about stays' perspective for this comeback and will be working with 3racha to produce one of the songs." the woman explains to the staff who applaud politely. i bow again before quickly sitting back down. once the attention is back on the leader, hyunjin places a hand on my thigh reassuringly, hidden from view by the conference table. i rest my hand on top of his and give it a gentle squeeze.

at least three of the staff members just checked felix out when he stood up. i know he's hot but jesus christ, i didn't think i would have to fight off people from my own company. didn't yun tell them that he's taken?? i guess not. i look up at felix to see if he noticed too but he just looks nervous.

he is so gorgeous. and the new pants he's wearing fit him just right. i want to pull him onto my lap and run my fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp and making him feel good. oh jesus, i need to stop thinking about this right now.

i look around at the staff members again to memorize which ones checked him out. two girls and one guy. i want to stand up and show them that he's taken, but i restrain, knowing that would make felix uncomfortable.

once felix sits back down, i check that no one is looking before placing a hand on his thigh protectively. after a second he wraps his little fingers around mine and gives my hand a squeeze.

     "since mr. lee doesn't know everyone here, let's quickly go around and introduce ourselves. i'll start. my name is mrs. yeom soo and i am stray kids' head of staff," the leader explains, before gesturing at the younger woman sitting to her left at the table. she introduces herself as stray kids' lead stylist. we go around the table until all sixteen staff members have introduced themselves. i try hard to remember the names and roles but hearing so many new ones at once doesn't make it very easy for me.

     we move on to the slideshow presentation that the stylists put together which demonstrates the "black and white with pops of bright colours, fancy grunge aesthetic" that they planned for this comeback. the pieces make me want to see the members wearing them, which feels like a good sign.

     "stray kids, what do you think?" mrs. yeom asks. chan looks around at the boys before answering for the group.

     "we all look forward to wearing these looks. great job and thank you to the stylists," he responds and the head of staff nods.

     "mr. lee? your thoughts?" she asks and thankfully i had mentally prepared myself for this.

     "stays will be excited about this. i guarantee that there will be buzz over these looks, especially since they are unique enough to stir up conversation," i answer, feeling confident and excited about being part of stray kids' comeback planning.

     "thank you for the input. and thank you to the stylists, you may now take your leave." they bow, happy with the response to their work, and quickly pack up their things before exiting.

     "now, let's talk about the songs. mr. chan, the songs you presented yesterday were great but you said some were unfinished. do you have an update for us? the music video meeting is scheduled for forty minutes from now, so we need to move quickly."

"understood. changbin, jisung, and i stayed up all night polishing the approved tracks and felix and i finished the lyrics for "fnf" so now those should be ready to record." he clicks a few keys on his laptop as he speaks, connecting it to a portable bluetooth speaker.

a song i recognize as "hall of fame" starts pumping into the room. it sounds even better than the last time i heard it and i can't wait for the rest of the members to sing and rap on it with 3racha. mrs. yeom looks impressed as well, nodding her head in time with the beat.

once we have listened through all of the songs, ending with "mixtape : time out," everyone in the room bursts into applause.

"is this the order you want the songs to be in on the album?" she asks 3racha once the clapping has died down.

"this is the order i imagined them in, but i am open to suggestions if you have any," chan responds and changbin and jisung nod their agreement.

"the order is perfect. very nice job on that," she says, picking up the pile of papers in front of her and tapping the bottom edges on the table to even them out before placing them down again. "this album will be a hit. great work 3racha and felix. the music video directors should be here soon. so, are there any last questions or comments?" she asks and chan takes a deep breath.

     "i think 'super bowl' should be in english and i want felix to help me translate it," he reveals, all in one breath.
